A large and varied amount of small and large stationary engines that once drove industry.
Very interesting with a wealth to be had when talking to the owners.

Great place and it deserves all the praise I'd heard about it. Took the family down, my wife who has no real interest in engines found it fascinating and we could of left the kids in the radio room for hours

A fantastic slice of years gone by! An important museum preserving what made Britain the powerhouse it once was!

An amazing collection of working engines. A must see for anyone with an interest in our mechanical past.

This museum is a must for all ages. Brilliant

This place is an absolute gold mine of classic working engines from our past that all helped our early pumping stations and local early electric lighting systems grow into what we have today. There were 6 running engines today and there is a 3 Megawatt gas turbine generator that is just fantastic to see. I look forward to going back to there annual start up day where they will have most of what most be more than 30 diesel, gas, paraffin engines and there new 3 cylinder steam engine running. Cannot wait.

Some really interesting bits and pieces here, my little one really loved the telephone exchanges where he could pretend to be an old school operator putting callers through. Good for young and old aspiring engineers!

User

Not the easiest place to find - but it really is worth the effort if old diesels interest you. Many engines running every day. Run by genuine enthusiasts who really know what they're talking about. Nice cafe too. Go.
