Make sure your oil tank is dipped and checked every service to make sure there's no water lurking in the bottom, which could cause damage to your boiler. As you can see from the picture, water is heavier than oil which makes it "sink" to the bottom. Over time condensation, small cracks in the lid and a loose fitting cap on the site gauge causes water to build up, causing the boiler to run on poor quality oil (if it runs at all).

I've made the decision to suspend all installations until the COVID-19 has calmed down. A tough decision to make but it's in the best interest for my own family and yours. Its very difficult as a plumber to enter someone's house if they are self isolating or showing symptoms.
I will come out on an emergency basis (i.e leaks and breakdowns) If I do come out please don't be offended if I remind you to keep your distance.
If there's anyone who is struggling financially and wor...rying about how to pay for the services, arrangements can be made, I don't want anyone to be isolated in a cold house and no hot water.
Stay safe everyone.

If your oil boiler doesn't look like this during a service, chances are it's not getting the service it requires.
If your "boiler engineer" is just doing a quick in and out job taking 15-30 minutes then you should really question what you are paying for. You should also be provided with relevant paperwork at the end.
If you're paying for a service make sure it's actually being done properly. Boiler photographed was serviced a year ago but recently broke down. A leaking condensate pipe had dripped onto a copper oil line and consequently caused a leak. Luckily the leak was not substantial, however, the condensate had been leaking for some time and should have been noticed during the previous service.

The final piece of the puzzle in this plant room is this Grant Vortex wall hung oil boiler.
It is also the final job of 2018 for J.M.S Plumbing and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their continued support throughout the year and would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We are still jumping in the van over the holidays but will be on an emergency basis only. Thank you.

Soon to be rolling out on every service and every install we do.

Today we finished a job that was meant to be straight forward, but the more we took apart the existing shower, the more problems we unearthed. The plasterboard behind the tiles was covered in damp and the timber for the stud wall was bodged by the previous "tradesman". We took it all down and replaced with new 4" x 2" and ply lined both walls, making it nice and square so we can guarantee a nice seal all round the tray.
