Organising data
Your data is uploaded as a 'Comma Separated Variable' file. If you can do that yourself, fine. If not, we'll show you how to make your own database of your friends, relatives and business associates, collect your contacts' address details from Address Book, web base email programmes or wherever and import them into an easy to use database which will always remain securely yours.
Apart from the convenience, there is a data-security reason for extracting your data out of email address books. If you are ever hit by a hacker, they'll send out a begging email to all your contacts and then delete them. Once they have done that, you cannot email anyone on your mailing list. But if you previously saved your data you can send out a quick email backed up by a text to all your contacts warning them. You will be just one step ahead of the hackers.
Help with your Database
When you sign up you also get to see our guides on making and maintaining a database. We show you how to set up a spreadsheet, how to make and use a 'Comma Separated Variable' file, we explain the difference between 'fields' and 'records', we show you how to import the many contacts you have (sometimes unwittingly) dotted around the place, how to integrate them into one database with one line per contact - and the value of the 'Salutation' field.
