It’s been a while since my last update but I haven’t forgotten you all...On the contrary, as I’m nearing the end of active treatment, I’m turning my attention to my return to work. I’m told I must take some time to recuperate after treatment so, at the moment I’m thinking I’d like to start back in April, although I can’t confirm an actual date until nearer the time. It‘s likely to be a phased return, with me possibly just working mornings to start with but I will post full d...etails as soon as I can. I appreciate that after all this time some previous regulars will have settled in with other groomers and may not wish to change again and that’s absolutely fine - I wouldn’t wish to disrupt any dog’s routine yet again...However, those who do wish to come back will be very welcome indeed!

It's been a while since I've seen you all - the latter part of this year didn't exactly go the way I'd imagined - but I think about you all the time. So, to all my customers, I wish you a wonderful Christmas and all the very best for 2019. I hope to be back in my little grooming room by the spring and absolutely can't wait! Love Ruth xxx

Here's what I made with some of that lovely greyhounds, whippets and lurchers fabric. This one has sold already but more of my sewn items are available now at the Kraft Kabin in Ruthin.

So today was a very good day for me because, for the first time since the summer, I was able to get back in my grooming room and give Jay a little bath and dry. Not that he shared my enthusiasm of course 😂

For anyone local to Ruthin, there's a lovely new shop on the industrial estate. Showcasing the work of a number of local crafters, including some of my own, it's well worth popping in for a look...

Currently awaiting delivery of some lovely new fabrics, including this one of greyhounds, whippets and lurchers. Given that I have promised myself a rescue greyhound one day, I just couldn't resist this...

******UPDATE******
It's been a while since I last posted so here's a little update about me. Yesterday I had my second chemo treatment, so just another four to go now. They are every three weeks so I should be finished in early January, to be followed by three weeks of daily radiotherapy, a short rest period and then BACK TO WORK, hopefully around late Feb/early March...and I absolutely can't wait to be grooming some lovely dogs again, I can tell you! In the meantime, althoug...h grooming is still off limits to me for now, I can still use a sewing machine and aim to create some lovely new items for sale, the usual collars and leads, plus more of my cushions and bags. So keep an eye on the page, once I'm over the side effects of this treatment cycle I will be sewing again. I am doing fine by the way, albeit shedding hair like a Labrador but I have my lovely wig now, if anything an improvement on my old hair, and I also have another on order...because it seems this wig shopping can be quite addictive! Hope everyone is well and all my doggie clients haven't forgotten their Auntie Ruth! Xxx

UPDATE
So, I'm now three weeks post surgery for breast cancer and am recovering well. Every week I have received well wishes, messages, cards and flowers for which I am hugely appreciative. Thank you again to all who have shown me such amazing support. I am currently waiting for a treatment plan, at which point I should have some idea of just how long I can expect to be out of action. In the meantime I am being very well looked after. Sophie here now also goes by the name of... 'Matron', such is the diligent care and attention she shows me at all times. For all of her 10 years, despite training and my best efforts, she has always been a bit of a puller on walks but suddenly now if I hold her lead in my right hand (my affected side) she walks beautifully. She just seems to know, as dogs do. Missing all my regulars - dogs and humans, Ruth xx

By now, almost all my regulars will know that this has been a difficult week for me with a diagnosis that has shocked and shaken me. (Anyone reading this who has not heard from me, please bear with me, there are still one or two of you I have not managed to get hold of as yet.) Now facing surgery and treatment, I've had no choice but to close my little grooming room - for a while - and notify long term, loyal customers who I have come to know as friends. I just want to say a ...very big thank you for the overwhelming support, extremely kind offers of help and general well wishes I have received. You're all pretty amazing in my book and have made a tough few days a little more bearable for me which, right now, means the world to me. I will miss the dogs I groom and doing the job I love but hope to get back to it just as soon as I can. Thank you all again (you know who you are) and keep in touch, Ruth xxx

I was very pleased to see Harvey back today. After a worrying time for his owners, the referral vet has just advised that the lump found recently is in fact a benign tumour. He is scheduled for surgery in a couple of weeks to remove it but is expected to make a full recovery. This boy has more lives than a cat that's for sure 😀

Togo loved his first grooming experience , his coat looks amazing! I think he's been strutting around (and is some how still clean) he was so calm and relaxed when I came to pick him up. It's so nice that so much time and care is given, will defiantly be recommending you! See you on his next visit ❤️

Tilly and Jessie have been going to Just4paws for a long time and they love going!! Ruth has so much patience and both dogs are totally relaxed when they go to be pampered! Both of my dogs are quite nervous but Ruth seems to have a calming influence on them!! Would highly recommend Ruth

Ruth has been grooming Ruby my ESS for almost two years. Whilst being a dog with no issues of aggression or being handled, Ruby can be a nervous nelly.I can't imagine Ruby being groomed by anyone other than Ruth because of the patience, confidence and kindness that Ruth oozes. She also has great tolerance to noise , because Ruby likes to 'sing' in the bath and bark at the blaster drier!! I cannot recommend Ruth highly enough.

Our Shih Tzu, Bella has been a regular customer with Ruth at Just4Paws for the last 4 years, she always comes out looking and smelling absolutely gorgeous. Ruth is so kind, considerate and attentive to Bella's unique ways and is such an excellent groomer. Bella is very precious to us and we wouldn't even consider taking her anywhere else to be groomed except for with Ruth at Just4Paws. I can't recommend her highly enough. My 2 Leonbergers & 1 GSD Rescue are always happy to visit Just4Paws. They really enjoy the bath & grooming session provided by Ruth's reassuring hands. Unhelpfully they far too often relax & fall asleep on the grooming table! I am perfectly comfortable leaving them in Ruth's care and trust her judgement totally. It is a pleasure to collect them as they always look and smell divine, for at least the next five minutes!

Meg cannot wait to visit Ruth again, she will be back. We have decided that the pampering will ease her arthritis pain.

Macs was a very nervous dog when he started going for his groom but now he loves coming every 8 weeks, and I wouldn't consider taking him any where else, the service is fantastic xxx

Luna's coat is always cut to perfection and she always smells and looks gorgeous. I never fail to be anything other than delighted with the outcome.

I've been taking my dogs to Just 4 Paws for a few years now. The dogs love going on their grooming visits to Auntie Ruth. When researching other groomers Ruth of Just4Paws Dog grooming always impressed me - not only with the quality of the work she demonstrates but the hints and tips she readily offers - always with the dogs best interest at heart. I set up my business Oggies4Doggies in 2013 and have on many occasion asked Ruth for advice. She has never once failed to give that assistance as she has a heart of gold. Harley has been going to Ruth for about a year now. After a previous bad experience with another groomer we were nervous about sending Harley to groomers again but choosing Ruth was the best decision we made. Harley loves going for his groom and always looks handsome afterwards. Ruth takes time in the work she does to make sure it is done perfectly. Fab with Shani and George. What a difference with the moulting from George - can cuddle him without getting covered plus he smelt lovely. Shani looked fab too so pretty x
