About Kidwelly Writing Group

Kidwelly Writers Group is a new group set up for writers in Kidwelly and surrounding district.

We meet on the third Tuesday of every month 7pm - 8. 30pm

Kidwelly Writing Group Description

We’re a friendly, small group of writers (fewer than 10 at the moment) who meet to encourage and support each other every month on the 3rd Tuesday from 7 until 8. 30 p. m. in the Hub, Kidwelly.

We write a mixture of poetry and prose and read our work aloud if we’re comfortable to. No one has to read if they don’t want to and some members prefer to listen only.

To make sure everyone who wants to can read and get feedback, we set a maximum of 1000 words each per session - that’s around two A4 pages, single-spaced with a font size of 12 – keeping introductions to our stories / poems brief before reading so we have more time for comments afterwards.

We want to be as inclusive as possible and we welcome teenage members, so this influences what we read at our meetings - the BBC’s watershed policy is a good indicator of what’s suitable. Members are free to bring along their children if they’re unable to find childcare, provided they supervise them.

We aim to listen attentively to what’s read, give thoughtful, constructive feedback and we have an agreement that what we discuss in the room stays in the room.

There’s a charge of £2 per person per meeting to cover room hire, and there’s an additional £1 charge for tea or coffee provided by the Hub.

If you’re interested in coming along or would like more details, you can contact us on this page.
