STORY PUBLISHED TODAY IN THE SOUTH WALES ECHO. Lots of things we've said have been IGNORED....🤐
📌 So we've bullet pointed the things that MOST WORRY US!
💥 1. The buildings are not being saved - you're demolishing over 90% of them.
... 🦉 2. Cardiff Council / Cyngor Caerdydd, you've still yet to respond to us regarding your word on assisting and supporting Gwdihŵ Café Bar to find a new home.
🤦 3. No-one has told us yet - why there are new commercial opportunities going to be available on the ground floor and why the existing businesses could not remain there in the first place? (One for you perhaps, Mr Landlord.)
🙄 4. Revitalise the area?! Who says it's tired? It doesn't need it. It's always been a quirky hive of activity. Bring the canal back by all means - but why destroy history to build high?
🤔 5. Where's the consultation process for this masterplan? Is one even going to happen? Nothing has been announced as of yet.
⚠ 6. What happens to The Traders Tavern Cardiff, The Little Man Coffee Company, the newsagents, shops and the nail salon once this masterplan gets underway?
⚠ Are EVEN MORE independent business owners going to be turfed out? To make way for more luxury residential property or student accomodation?

On this date in 1981, HAZEL O’CONNOR was a guest on Top Of The Pops performing WILL YOU, (May 28th, 1981).
BREAKING GLASS, the 1980 ‘youth cult’ movie featuring songs by O’Connor, made quite an impression on teenagers across the country at the time – the heavy use of synthesisers, the fashion, the anti-establishment message, all offered through a bleak backdrop of high unemployment, industrial strikes, and general discontent – it was unlike anything we’d seen or heard before....
By the time of the release of Breaking Glass there were essentially two halves to the Hazel O'Connor Story. Pre-Breaking Glass, Hazel was working on the fringes of the music and film business; Post-Breaking Glass her face was firmly in the public eye.
Shortly after the film’s release, Hazel began touring with her own band, MEGAHYPE, trying hard to make it in a way that strongly echoed the plot of the movie. The irony wasn't lost on Hazel who was well aware just how much her own identity has become blurred with the character of ‘Kate’.
The following year, she registered two further Top 10 singles, the uncharacteristic ballad 'Will You' and the manic new wave romp of ‘D-Days’, a song inspired by a visit to a night club in London's West End where O'Connor encountered a lot of “bizarre looking” people.
The video here is WILL YOU? with its notable saxophone solo by Wesley Magoogan. Wesley went on to play with the Beat and Joan Armatrading but his career was cruelly ended when he lost the fingers of one hand after an accident with a circular saw.
