Whilst the building of it was shrouded in controversy, there's no denying that the dam is an architectural masterpiece and has created a stunning environment for us to enjoy today.

We walked around the Sculpture trail, fabulous trees especially with Autumn colour and view from bottom of dam where the water was cascading over. Very fresh delicious lunch on terrace outside tearoom, great service. dogs not allowed inside. Drove to other end of Lake for waterfall lake, fab.

We have visited on many occasions but the last time it was a very wet autumn day, the colours were spectacular the rain didn't spoil our day, the sculpture park and giant redwoods are a must, bird hides are fabulous and Artisans is well worth a visit to dry off and have a cuppa.

A spectacular, thrilling, giant structure in the middle of stunning countryside. You need to show this to your kids and tell them its story.
