A fine hotel with plenty of old-world charm. The food is delicious and the service warm and friendly. Perhaps a little TLC, here and there, would merit 5 stars. Nevertheless, will definitely go again.

Set in a stunning location the historic hotel provides a lovely countryside location. The hotel itself retains many of its original features which some may argue makes it look dated and tired. The spa, when quiet, is a lovely place. The main restaurant presents stunning views over the lake and amazing service. The food was a little hit and miss with pea shoots presented on everything that arrived during our stay. We recommend that you pay the extra for a lakeside room as the side "overlooking the gardens" is essentially a car park and noisy from the cars, people and kitchen vents.

Absolutely fantastic place. Beautiful hotel, out of this world views from the hotel room. Loads of choice for breakfast. My one disappointment was I wanted to eat in the main restaurant but didn't want to have to eat 2 courses and I felt it was a little costly....but what a little diamond. I highly recommend this place....FANTASTIC !!

A group of us, 4 adults and 4 children descended on them for an evening meal. Although we all chose fairly standard items from the menu I think we were all pleasantly surprised. It seems rare to receive food hot these days and it was fantastic to have a freshly cooked hot plate of food. The meals we very good and the kids meals were very much above the standard expected. The next time we are in the area, we will be heading there again.

Hotel is in beautiful surroundings and staff are helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is clean but whilst the decor is aimed to highlight its age and history it does feel like it could do with some modernization just to improve the quality of the decor rather than bring it up to a more modern view. Entry to the spa should definitely be included in the room fee but it isn't. The spa is clean and has sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, hot beds and lovely outside area but no pool. Room was small but bathroom was huge so that made up for the smaller space. Views are brilliant and really that's what you are paying a premium for.

My girlfriend and I enjoyed a great afternoon Tea in the lounge. Fantastic view across the lake. Great service and delicious cakes made it a very pleasant experience.

Beautiful location, truly breathtaking. The rooms are spacious but the decor is aged and uninspired. The bathrooms are, in contrast, modern and functional. The room service food is just passable: heavy, hard to digest sauces to cover tasteless food. The wine selection rather neutral.
The afternoon tea service was just a bad experience: had to ask twice for a second cup after ordering tea for two (misunderstood or overheard, don't know), the afternoon tea offering was bland and overpriced. Clearly the only attraction is the view, a shame.

Incredible views, stunning landscape, unique location, Olde world charm, great food and good service.

The view is stunning across the lake and they take full advantage with wide windows and balconies. The food is really nice and not the usual faire, worth looking at the menu. I got married here 7 years ago and it was absolutely perfect, came back for a meal with my wife and it still feels great.
