Laugharne Memorial Hall Some of you will have heard that we have suffered an “ingress of water event”, that’s a flood to most of us. The result has been that we have lost about a third of the wooden floor in the main Hall, and the vinyl floors in both the toilets. The toilets are, at present useable as we are still in the process of trying to dry out the concrete floors, a process that requires the use of various fans, heaters and dehumidifiers. This was going along fairly we...ll but for some, as yet unknown, reason progress seems to have stalled. We are now awaiting contractors to ‘scarify ‘the top layer on these floors to remove any residue of adhesive which may, or may not, be causing these problems. So far, we have managed, with some difficulty to ‘keep calm and carry on’. There is, however, only so much you can do with only the one toilet cubicle available and given we are fast approaching the Christmas shutdown period we felt we had no alternative but to cancel our planned New Year’s Eve celebration. We have done this with heavy hearts, having organised it last year for the first time in several years. We hoped to re-establish this event firmly on the must do chart for the local community. In the meantime we will do our best to provide a service for the community with most activities carrying on as normal. One bonus has been that we have started to use the Committee Room more extensively and to realise its potential as a space that can be utilised for more than meetings, in my mind I have even started to call it The Studio. So, please, keep on eye out for what is happening to your Memorial Hall – we are certainly planning a major event for the Grand Reopening when all our facilities are up and running in the near future we hope. In the meantime, can I take the opportunity to thank all of our regular users for their patience and forbearance. John Bradshaw Chair, Laugharne Memorial Hall

We’re trialing a new club for girls every Tuesday at the Hall. The aim is to reduce the drop off in interest in sports as girls move from primary to secondary school and keep them active. The first one is tonight! See the poster for contact details. Please share ☺️
