I went here for a Sunday roast and it was very nice, it was a very happy atmosphere and the staff are welcoming which is why I would highly recommend to everyone.

Great place to visit. When going through the rooms they have "servants" discussing what it was like be one, it was just different way of looking at things compared to other homes we have seen, worth a visit!

Historic manor house superbly preserved/restored. Bonus is the excellent interpretations given by the "household staff" who give insights into their lives as members of Col Pritchard's household, wearing period clothing and using period speech ... and answering visitor's questions with grace and humour. Good for kids, too, with opportunities to dress up, lay with period toys, etc.

A fantastic place that is bought to life with the staff who work here. The staff of the Colonel will stay in character and speak to you as though we were back in the Stuart era.
Children under 12 are expected to sit on the floor or a parents lap. Much to the disgust of my 11yo. A brilliant day out.
The entry price goes to the upkeep of the house, which I believe to be perfectly acceptable. We can't let our history crumble.

This was a visit with a difference. We've visited many houses where you look at furniture and portraits. Here the guides/servants in costume of house acted out their real life stories to the visitors to explain how the household lived in 1645. Each guide/servant was entertaining, knowledgeable and informative. They were able to tell stories to answer questions about any subject about the house, the family and life in Stuart times. We were very impressed by the guides who were excellent actors. They also interacted well with the visitors and stayed in character throughout. I highly recommend visiting the manor. We spent two hours there and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The people at the Manor really bring the history of the place alive. The tours are interesting and entertaining. The restaurant and café are lovely

The tour was excellent; the actors were not only informative and amusing but also came across as real people with superstitions and prejudices of the time and very rounded personalities. The only thing that let it down in my opinion was the restaurant, which was playing pop music ( why not lute music of the period, or even silence?). Also the decor of the restaurant could have been designed to suit the period - why ever not? And though it was clean, the food was mediocre. But everything else about the experience was spot on. Even the garden was lovely. I wish I could have awarded it 5 stars.
