About Llandudno Pier

Llandudno Pier is the No 1 premier attraction to visit whilst on holiday in Llandudno, a fantastic holiday venue in North Wales.

Llandudno Pier Description

Llandudno Pier was designed by Brunlees and McKerrow. Taking 2 years to construct, building commenced in 1876 and the Pier was completed in 1878. The Pier is known for it splendid Victorian and Edwardian elegance.

Constructed of wrought iron lattice girders resting on cast iron columns, and finished with a traditional wooden decking. The PierŌĆÖs total length is 2295ft, of which the main Pier is 1234ft, stretching majestically into the Irish Sea.

Llandudno Pier was originally operated by the Llandudno Pier Company. In 1968 the Pier was purchased by the Trust House Forte Group, and then became part of the First Leisure Corporation in 1983. In 1998 the pier was purchased along with the 3 Blackpool Piers, Eastbourne Pier, South Parade Pier and Blackpool Tower & Winter gardens by Mr Trevor Hemmings operating under Leisure Parks Ltd. Today Llandudno Pier is owned and operated by Adam Williams, Tir Prince Leisure Group and still retains it elegant Victorian appearance, referred to by some as the ŌĆ£Queen of Welsh PiersŌĆØ

The Pier Pavilion was famous for its musical concerts and was the venue at which the world famous conductor, the late Sir Malcolm Sergeant first appeared (1926 /1927 Seasons). In later years such household names as George Fornby, Ted Ray, Semprini. Petula Clark, Arthur Askey, Bryan Johnson, Bill Maynard (ŌĆ£GreengrassŌĆØ in Heartbeat), Jimmy Edwards, Russ Conway, the Beverley Sisters, and Cliff Richard all appeared at the Pier Pavilion. In 1994 Pier Pavilion was ravaged by fire, leaving just the ornate wrought iron supports standing.

The Piers Landing Stage was used for many years for sailings to and from Liverpool, the Isle of Man, and pleasure trips around the North Wales Coast. Many famous faces have sailed to the Pier over the years including Ringo Starky, who went on the achieve fame in The Beatles ŌĆō Ringo Starr. Sailing to and from the Pier came to an end in 2005 due to the condition of the Berthing area. Following extensive renovations to the landing stage 2015 saw the return of the Waverly & Balmoral sailings.

Since purchasing the pier Adam Williams continues to invest in the structural maintenance of Llandudno Pier. During the winter months Steel Replacement and renewal of Decking takes place every year. In addition a small but dedicated Maintenance Team work all year long to maintain and improve the standard of the Piers d├®cor and appearance. The good work will continue.

Was a special day: autumn sun shinning on the boardwalk, parasols flapping in the gentle breeze, people strolling up and down, the sun glistening on the water ... bliss ŌØż’ĖÅ

Walked along the pier last night. It was all shut but I could have been anywhere in time. The whimsy, romantic and plain old fashioned atmosphere of the place took me to a place in time, a bygone era of old meets new. The barman in the little bar at the end was super friendly and polite. When we left the bar 60's songs were playing. Felt magical. ’┐Į

This was my first visit to llandudno and we absolutely loved it! Such a beautiful place and the locals were very friendly and helpful. Needless to say we will be returning very soon x

User

Nice long pier. Very nice. Can take your dog as well cos when we were in Brighton were not allowed to walk our dog along it. Enjoyable day.

User

Love it. Even better now the In Laws have moved to this wonderful town this summer. Rather spend time here than Blackpool. Plenty to do in town or further afield. The pier could really do with toilet a close to the entrance.

User

Love it kids love the peir visit when we can great sand a rock area rides are gd Value as they get a good turn on each ride, great views spending our familymoon there as we love the place and would like to spend longer then a few hrs :)

User

It's a lovely place great for day out and speed boats are great for ┬Ż4 the people morning about the place get a life and go into the decent cafes like the woman moaning about the ocean cafe go somewhere decent then instead of moaning and people moaning about the price of the fair get a grip and stop putting the place down my grandkids love it

User

I've been coming here for over 40 years - and have watched the pier change - not always for the better

However after x3 years of not visiting I went today and was really impressed

The pier is being loved and cared for again

The children's rides are clean tidy and look well maintained

The kiosks are far better than they have ever been - quality items can be found not a tinned burger and dry buns - now it's lovely lovely food and gifts - oh and doughnuts still (yum yum )

We found something to suit everyone from youngest at 2 years old - to the oldest at 88 years - lots of benches for rest breaks - and it's was clean and tidy - the ladies in the leather and handbag shop were very helpful as was the lad on the car, truck, motorbike etc ride - he was very patient - we had a lovely day

I have been here before but only for the day. But this time me and my husband took our Grandson to stay for 4 days. We stayed in The Grand Hotel which is right on the pier. It was very impressive as it is central to everything. But as a day tripper, I can understand about the public toilets. We went for a walk through the town shopping and there were no toilets anywhere. Even Primark only allowed me to use it to change my Grandson. I was not allowed to use it myself and the sales assistant waited outside the whole time to ensure that I didn't do so. So I think the Council should seriously give this some thought. The Hotels on the front are beautifully painted and very Victorian looking. So I would imagine that it's very popular with American tourists. Overall Llandudno is a very beautiful place to go.

User

Been going Llandudno since I was a child and I'm now 44 . I never get tired of the place . It's peaceful, beautiful and I love goin with my family and children. And will for many more years x

User

A beautiful and great place'souch to do'for kids'older people'for everyone'love it and I will be back xx

User

We go to Llandudno for the Light Parade every year and the children always love going along the pier. The tokens for rides are a bit pricey. It's ┬Ż1 a token and some rides are 4 tokens making it expensive if you've more than one child.

There really needs to be more toilets available. The ones in the arcades were shut ages ago leaving the ones at the end of the pier. Not the cleanest and also a really long way to walk if you're desperate. Other than those loos, you need to go into a cafe or hotel (which I always feel cheeky doing unless I'm spending money in there!). Plenty of little shops along the pier but they do close about 6pm even though there's still a lot of people on the pier. Some really tasty ice cream stands along the pier! If the tide is in, you can go crabbing. If it's out, there's a bit of nice sand on the beach but mainly rocks.

All in all, a nice clean promenade with a decent amount of things to entertain the children for the day.

User

Plenty of variety for the young ones of all ages plenty snacks and drinks and side shows a puppet show was on at the end of the pier which atracted a large crowd

User

Love Llandudno & visit almost every year. Beach is fab and the pier too. Spent many a great day there with a mix for all ages. Only drawback is that it's a fair trek to any toilets, could do with some nearer to the beach (unless I just haven't found them yet).

User

I did like the walk along the pier just not them steps were you can see the sea under your feet don't think my friends did either but apart from that I enjoy the day should be more day's like that x

User

Beautiful place

The only thing that disappointed us was the ocean cafe.. the staff were miserable and uninviting and rude to others when sat inside

User

Went to have a meal we thought it was appalling for ┬Ż8 we had

2 spuds

2 roasters

2 slices roast pork

Cabbage not the best

Bit of a rip off

User

It was a lovely day so that helped. The Pier was very well looked after and felt very safe walking along it. Mostly same old tatt sold in the shops along the pier though. Something like a farmers or fish market would be wonderful along the pier.
