I have not been able to post for a while due to being quite busy, but I did a nice repair job in Pontypridd recently.
An office was unsecure due to a lock and mechanism problem. As I keep the right stock I was able to not only replace the lock with a high security alternative but also changed the gearbox on site so that the door could be safely locked.
i then cut some additional keys the following morning and delivered them to the very happy customer.

After a hard days toil getting my shop unit ready I had a call off a friend who wanted an entry job done for a family member. As a favour I went to help, and quickly unlocked the door only to find the most unusual mechanism that was ineffective and needed to be removed. So I made it all nice and safe and offered the advice that we needed and headed home - wet & tired but pleased.

Things have been very quiet on the Locksmith front as I have been pretty busy setting up a shop Ferndale Hardware & Locksmiths in which I will base the locksmith business and provide a much needed hardware shop in Ferndale. Hopefully I can make it a success.

It was both worrying and disappointing to hear that a vulnerable pensioner in Ton Pentre has been burgled, while she was down stairs. The intruder made his way past her, to get upstairs. She must have been so very frightened.
As a locksmith, it is my job, my duty even, to make homes as secure as they can be. Something that I have been planning for some time may soon come to fruition.
It looks like I am opening a hardware and security shop in Ferndale to (try and) replace the much missed Baileys hardware shop.
This will mean that I will not only be able to provide the people and sole traders of Ferndale and the surrounding areas with a much needed service but I shall be more available to complete locksmith and security works as some of my customers will book me direct, and I can ...get out of the house more!!

A quick security light installation for someone who often works late and needs light to find the keyhole. I managed to position it so that it only operates when you step close to the door, just what the customer wanted.

Straw poll time:
I am considering opening up a hardware shop locally to me, selling the usual hardware, DIY goods, security & locks and possibly caravan basics.
What I would like to know is - do you think this a workable idea and secondly, what would you think you would want from such a shop.

I have received a commission for a wireless CCTV and security light in the Porth area.
What is good for my customer, is that they told me that my inclusive price is over 1/3 cheaper than the next best quote they received, for the same (or at least similar) system.
Once again a happy customer to be.

I read a post on a friends page that I want to make you aware of.
A gentleman left his door unlocked late in the evening and woke to find that someone had entered his home and needed to be physically removed.
Whilst this is rare, remember to lock your doors, or seek advice from any locksmith about having a new door handle, that will only open by key from outside.
... It's better to be safe than sorry. Lock those doors guys!
