At Loot Cave we are life-long nerds. We are into EVERYTHING. From sci-fi to comic books, from video games to action figures and from music to movies. You name it; if it's retro and nerdy we are into it.

We even love Star Trek as much as we do Star Wars. (thankfully there is no comment section on this page! ) Run by children of the 80's we here at Loot Cave love our nerdy passions like a Skutter loves flipping Rimmer the bird. Growing up in the 80's was a magical time, Hollywood, thanks to Star Wars's merchandising spree in the dying years of the 70's went full throttle into toy production so as a kid in the 80's, there was simply too much to collect which is why, as adults, we spend hundreds of hours tracking down those toy lines that got away from us. I personally didn't own my own Optimus Prime until I was 31 years old!

The 80's also saw the resurgence of the video game industry after Atari nearly killed it dead due to their combination of laziness and greed, with the whole E. T. debacle almost delivering the death blow before a certain 100 year old Japanese gaming company decided to reboot the industry.

And, as the decade drew to a close, Nintendo showed the world that the rumors of the video game industry's death had been greatly exaggerated and before they knew it, rival companies sprung out of the woodwork and challenged their dominance thus creating the framework for the industry to do what, in the 80's at least, was thought impossible; become bigger than Hollywood.

As a result, children of the 80's again found themselves in the position of being suffocated with choice. Thus began the Console Wars.

And like any great war, it's left to the historians to decide who won. Whereas during the 80's, a mixture of economics and strict parenting forced kids to choose a side, which in turn created the need for places like Loot Cave to exist, as adults you are free of whatever shackles bound you to your choices and can allow your curiosity to fill in those blanks from your past that haunt your thoughts.

We here at Loot Cave see ourselves as conduits to an alternate past. A chance to experience a parallel timeline where you get to live out the choices you didn't make. Or, if you will, a chance for you to re-live the choices you did make.

Either way you look at it, Loot Cave is a means to reconnect with, or get to know a toy line, video game, classic movie or soundtrack to better times.

Loot Cave is run by nerds for nerds.

I digress, this is an About Us page after all and an About Us page is no place for nostalgic ramblings, or is it? Putting the site together and acquiring the stock lines took less time to than it took for us all to figure out an approach for our About Us page.
