Site visit yesterday to check painting progress on a hallway project. The three storey house has a lot of stairs and spindles (the decorator counted 109 spindles!) so the clients wanted a scheme which would break up and zone the different levels. They went for one of my all time favourite colours, Pleat from Little Greene for the top level where the bedrooms are, and a sophisticated scheme of varying greys elsewhere. It's looking fab and the previously rosewood spindles are looking so much smarter.

Gorgeous design @cromwell_arms last night. The whole place shared a palette of dark blues, greens and teals offset with pops of yellow and orange. For me it is the perfect mix of rustic, modern country and industrial. Don't you love it when the place you're staying in is inspiring?

I've started a new project in picturesque Tenby (I'll post some pics of my visit yesterday in stories) of a Victorian hotel which was converted into apartments in the 1970s. This one has been lovingly looked after by my clients parents, and hasn't changed much since the conversion. These curtains in the bedroom are an original 70s print, and I love them! The whole aim of this project is to modernise the apartment so it can be a holiday let, so sadly they won't be staying, but I might ask if I can keep them...

Beautiful tile samples arrived from @claybrookstudio for a reception area I'm working on. They are so lovely I want to use them all, but even I think that would be too much! I love this moment when I start putting things together and the ideas in my head become a bit more real. What is everyone else doing today?

Happy Sunday! I've been working on a revamp of my website and a new way to display my portfolio, so have been looking through my completed project photos to choose some more detail shots. I love this one as I am a bit obsessed with lighting and love the combination of black and pale pink, so it's definitely going in. What are you up to today?

And it's finally finished! I've been showing you bits of this project along the way, and there's a piece on my blog about it, so your probably pretty familiar with this one. I started on it back in December, and there have been a few ups and downs (especially with the carpentry) but it's all done now, yay! It needs styling, and I'll be going to take pics soon to show you the whole thing, but I couldn't resist sharing the final piece of the jigsaw.

I wouldn't usually post a before pic on here but I'm so excited to be involved in this one. It's a local centre for the community run by a church, who provide services such as an emergency night shelter, hot meals three times a week and a clothing bank for the homeless and vulnerable members of the community. The lovely Nkini who runs the centre has wanted to make the it more welcoming to guests for a long time, so I offered to help in any way I could. What we can do depends ...on the funds we can raise, but we'd like to widen the kitchen (to make it safer), make a wetroom/loo with wheelchair access, change the windows, redecorate, add some nicer furniture and generally make it feel a lot nicer. The two spaces are also used for a women's group, choir, exercise class and a prayer group, so they need to be functional and work hard. Easy eh? If anyone has anything they could donate or would like to help, please get in touch.

New project time! We're starting with the kitchen, moving it from one room to another which is much bigger. We talked through all the possibilities of knocking through the existing kitchen to make it larger, but they didn't make sense for the footprint or flow of the house. The new kitchen will be in the old lounge, which has a huge, deep chimney breast which I suggested taking out to make room for some banquette seating, so that we can fit in both an island and the client's large round dining table with enough seating for all the family. It's a big job - we've got a structural engineer looking at it this week - but the client is amazing and wants to go for it!
P.S. the client sent me the pic when we were discussing ideas, so I don't know where it's from - if anyone does please let me know so I can credit.

Look what came with my trade pack from @linwood_fabric yesterday! Gorgeous packaging of samples, using designs from their new Omega Prints collection, and a perfect set of postcards that are almost too lovely to use. I love it when brands add in these touches, it really gets the creative brain going and makes me want to get designing with their wonderful fabrics.

Here's a concept or moodboard for a kitchen I'm working on, with a client based in London. We started with the colour for the kitchen units which is Goblin from Little Greene - a colour I absolutely love and have been wanting to use for ages. I'm so pleased the clients loved it too!

A mood board for a project I'm working on, using some warm earthy colours. I always start with colour when designing, it's the first thing I think of. Once I have the colours right for the space, the light in the space and the mood we're trying to create, I can then think about style and texture (and practicality of course!). What do you do when you're redecorating?

My front door (and the front of the.house) have finally been painted. The door is in Green Verditer by @littlegreenepaintcompany which I chose to complement my beautiful original tiles. I love the colour, it looks so different in different light, and makes me happy when I come home.

Some style boards I've created for a remote project I'm working on in London. The boards are for a kitchen (which will have dark green units) a cosy TV snug, a more formal lounge and the master bedroom. I've chosen a base colour palette of greens and teals to weave throughout the house, but changed their tones depending on how the clients want each room to feel. I then added pops of mustard yellow and soft oranges and pinks as accents, so each room has its own identity, but the house has a sense of flow.

A client photo of a remote project I've been working on. She wanted her dining room to better reflect her personality. A new wall colour and gorgeous @bluebellgray curtains were all that she needed to make the space feel like hers.

After I spruced up (I love that word) my hallway cupboard with paint and wallpaper, I wanted to add a bit more colour to this little nook. The green lamp base did the job when the cupboard was plywood, but it had never quite sat properly once I'd painted the cupboard, so I decided to add in another colour. I used @anniesloanhome chalk paint again, and mixed up two colours to get the exact shade I wanted. Much better! Swipe ➡️ to see a before of the lamp @ Cardiff

Another detail from my kitchen snug project. I was soooo pleased when I found these lights (they're from DAR) because they fit the bill perfectly. The client wanted some sparkle and bling, and I thought the usual chandelier style would be too much. The simple shape (i.e. not lots of arms everywhere) makes them a bit cooler, but all the crystals still mean that when they are on there's lots of twinkly light. Putting two instead of one over the table adds extra glam, better lighting, and suits the shape of both the room and the table.

A close up of the amazing Kartell Victoria chairs designed by Philippe Starck in my recent kitchen snug project. I've always loved these chairs as they are funky, elegant, traditional in shape, super comfy and a bit punk all at the same time. When I first suggested these chairs to my client for this quite elegant space she thought I was mad, but now she loves them. It would have been easy to find some elegantly upholstered or leather dining chairs for this room but I wanted to add an element of something unexpected and cool. What have you got in your home which is unexpected?
