Lysaght Institute Description
One of Newport’s most iconic venues. We offer a stunning backdrop complete with suppliers to cater for all your events and conferencing requirements.
Fitted with state of the art audio visual equipment, our facilities include small to large sized 1920s Art Deco style function rooms, original balconies, and beautifully landscaped gardens.

The Lysaght Institute was built by the joint efforts of the firm of John Lysaght Ltd and its employees, to celebrate the contribution of the workforce to the success of the Orb Steelworks. In its heyday, the steelworks employed 3, 000 people. ”The Stute” opened its doors in December 1928 and quickly became an integral part of the local community. Standing in over eight acres of its own grounds, it boasted a ballroom (with maple wood dancefloor), billiard room, skittle alley, public bar and lounge. The “Stute” provided workers and their families with a wide range of social activities and events for many years until the Orb Works eventually closed in 2008.
The Institute closed its doors for the last time in 2001 and sadly the building deteriorated rapidly. It was Linc-Cymru's intention to refurbish this iconic building and create a ‘New Lysaght Institute’ that will incorporate its illustrious past and provide a community hub for the future.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Casual Events Assistant! This role is ideal for someone who likes working with the public.
You need to be available to work during the week and also weekends. Part of your duties will also be working the bar serving alcohol.

The reception area in front of our ballroom creates the perfect space for guests to recline with a glass of prosecco (or a cup of tea) as they soak in the atmosphere of your special event.
What a FANTASTIC team effort today from the staff at the Newport marathon. Really made the atmosphere with the music, supplying sweets and water for the runners was so generous aswell as props for the public. You all deserve a massive credit for today. X
We had our wedding here on the 10th March 2018 and the day was fantastic. Great venue and lovely people, Bethan was great with the organisation and Catherine was great on the day and couldn’t fault her. The gardens outside where fab for photos and the building is beautiful. Catering is fantastic too. X
We had our wedding here on Saturday 16th September 2017 what a day. The venue was absolutely amazing we couldn't have asked for anymore. Bethan was brilliant nothing was to much trouble at hand to help with anything. Catherine was fantastic on the day made the day so enjoyable she looked after all our guests and ourselves until the end. I couldn't of asked for anything more. I would highly recommend this venue to anybody.
We had our wedding here on 29 September 2017. Bethan was amazing and really took time to help us have everything we wanted ÔøΩ. Catherine was also amazing on the day and there for all our wants and needs. If I could give it 10 stars I would and would definately recommend it they won't disappoint!!
We got married here on Saturday 28th April 18 and I must say my husband and I were treated like royalty. All my guests commented on the venue and the helpful, friendly staff and resident DJ. You made our day and evening amazing. Thank you so much

Recently held an awards evening here for our Gym. Couldn’t have been happier!! The venue is beautiful and the food amazing! But the stand out feature is the staff, that cannot do enough to ensure that your function goes exactly as you imagined! Nothing is too much trouble and they are on hand throughout the evening to attend to your every need! We will certainly be using them again!

The venue is ideally located and the staff are extremely friendly and supportive.
