Young at heart, animal loving, wood carving, craft making, paint splatting, bead flinging, dog loving, cat stroking, non smoking, day-dreaming, somewhat dippy, Wife, mam and nan.
From an early age I started creating, painting, drawing, using air drying clay, knitting, sewing, you name it, I tried it.
I have always loved recycling and upcycling materials to create new projects. My family may call it hoarding.
I love carving in particular, using mainly flood and fallen wood which I find along the riverbank close to my home. The unusual shapes usually dictate the finished project before I start. With this craft I can honestly say that blood, sweat and tears go into my work, literally.
I love tools and craft materials so much that my friends and family buy me glue and drill bits, power tools and knives for Christmas and birthdays, which I greatly appreciate, after all you can never have too many tools I say.
Most of my arts and craftworks are one of a kind because they can be such a pain and take so long to make that I dread attempting another. Trial and error seems to be my motto most of the time and yes I have had some spectacular disasters but these are usually balanced by the successes. Perseverance is the key, that and patience, which I seem to have a lot of in my craft world, thankfully.
I love sharing my ideas and creating things for people because I want them to enjoy my finished items just as much as I do when I am creating them.
If I can help someone enter the magical world of art and crafting by giving advice and support and even sharing ideas, I will give it a go,
I may even learn a thing or two along the way.
