Hello there, I am Heike.
I spend my time thinking up new knit and crochet designs, and also organise a knitting retreat every year. Since my childhood in Germany I have had a keen love for all things textile, being taught at 8 years old to knit and crochet by my two grandmothers.

I use my love and talent to design and create beautiful items to wear or use in the home, and I also teach a variety of topics and techniques all over the UK and Europe.
As the author of “The little book of Socks” and “The little book of Shawls” and co-organiser of the ‘WoolyLoops’ Knitting Retreats, I lead a creatively happy life surrounded by mountains and open spaces in Wales.

Originally from Germany, I moved to the UK in 1987, and, after many years working as a Marketing /PR Executive in the IT business, decided that a change was needed. Five years as a Rowan Design Consultant followed. Now, as a Freelance Designer and workshop tutor I travel extensively, teaching a large variety of workshops to an ever-increasing audience of yarn lovers.

When not teaching, I can be found in my studio overlooking the Welsh Mountains or traveling in search for new design ideas.
