Manor House Restaurant

Me and my partner was looking to get married here next june. We was so excited that we found the perfect place to celebrate what would have been out most memorable day of our lives. When putting down our £1000 deposit the owner was so lovely and charming. We put a further £1000 down a few months later that we saved up. Again still very excited. Unfortunately a serious family matter has occurred which have left us no choice but to postpone our big day. My partner phoned the hotel and explained the situation and the owner was quite rude towards her. He said he needs a letter. So I written a letter to cancel. I held on to this letter for a week thinking shall I or not post it as we was both heartbroken. So me being honest decided to hand it to them personally to apologise for the cancellation. I spoke to the owners son who was really lovely and could understand our situation. He said that if they could fill the day as they got a year to do so we could have the full amount of money that we paid them. I wasn't expecting the full amount at all as £500 was a non refundable deposit. So as the days went on we had no reply either letter or phone call. So I decided to phone them to see when we would get our money back. We're both in the care sector so £1500/£2000 is a lot of money to us. I spoke to the owner who was very rude indeed. Saying that we will not get it all back (which I understand) and we shall receive a cheque at the end of the week and hung up on me. Well it's the end of the week and still no letter. We was thinking of rearranging the wedding at a later date with them but quite frankly I would rather be spoken to like a human being not a problem.

Only dissapointment that we were not pre warned that the restarant would be closed due to a wedding so had to go out and find a takaway but then no plates or cutlery in chalet

Had a very pleasant stay. Ample room for the 4 of us. Having a kitchen was good. Staff were friendly and welcoming. It was very close to Cardiff.

Fantastic, came here to visit family down the road and had a fantastic time staying in the family cottage. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere, fantastic food and really made the weekend for us. Our 1 year old granddaughter was also made very welcome. Thankyou.

In my (admittedly limited) experience, this is a brilliant hotel. Good wifi access in most rooms (none in far chalet block), nice quiet location. The chalets are massive and the price is very reasonable, kettles in chalets (I love it when there's a good kettle). Rooms way too hot but that's only because I am the ice queen and have no internal thermostat. Everyone is very polite and helpful. Excellent breakfasts provided in a beautiful bar area. Good class of guest also!
Lovely place to stay if you're visiting Cardiff but don't want to stay in the city, and there is a train station in Penarth.
Plenty of parking available close to rooms. TVs in chalets, nice beds, nice... walls, carpets... yes I'm reaching now but basically this place is fab-u-lous (darling), 10 out of 10 would recommend.
Note: everyone here seems to be English but it feels very Welsh,,, it's great

Beautiful place, wonderful attentive owners and staff, always made to feel welcome. Would recommend as a wedding venue, as we had ours there this summer and had a perfect day !

The food was awful had a soup for starter couldn't tell which all I tasted was like powder, the beef on main course was fatty but roasties I did enjoy. The lay out was quite strange but in all honesty spent most of my time outside if not in the bar chatting. For the cost of a wedding at the venue I wouldn't recommend!! The staff were very pleasant and very accommodating with my young children I had with me.
