Maplin

Stores okay. The equipment and tech there is brilliant for someone like me. But the thing that puts me off is I feel intimidated by the staff. 5 seconds into the store you're surrounded by them, I'm all for asking for help but if I need it I will ask it's just intimadating as you feel like you're constantly being watched.

Paid for 2 items online for click and collect, showed as 2 available and ready for pick up in 20 minutes. Got to store 40 minutes later, store had no order on file for me, took another 20 minutes to figure out that they only had 1 in stock and their online system can sometimes be 24 HOURS out of date. Joke when this is a electronics company. Was told I couldnt take the 1 in stock as my order was for 2 so I hadn't paid for the one on the shelf. Acting manager (as actual manager had gone home for the day) said there was nothing they could do, phoned customer services who said the same thing. Absolutely no effort to try and fix a issue I had because of their broken system, if there was any effort made by any part of the chain I wouldn't have bothered reviewing at 1 star but I can't let such poor customer service be passed.

Smallish store but still lots of choice, the staff are friendly and helpful.

Great helpful staff. You know what you want and not only will they point you in the right direction they will take you to it. Makes a change from the disinterested staff in other shops. Not only that good advice and reasonably competitive.

Visted on 14/4/2017. Looked around the store and they didn't have what I wanted. That's fair enough and no issue. On the way out I asked if they had any 50p peices in the till. I collect them and shops are great ways to complete a collection. Shops are usually happy to help and willing to swap my 50p for theirs. Greggs did it. Asda do it. Hobby Craft did. NOT maplin in Leckwith. Never said why just that they don't. Well if you don't want to swap a 50p for a 50p (no, there was no cue at the tills) then I'm not going to give you a good review..

Good choice for electrical gadgets. Prices reasonable. Very friendly and helpful staff.
