What a great Restaurant and Hotel Cardiff has given a new home to

We arrived early to enjoy the lovely cocktails that Grant made so professionaly for us

Taken to our table by a young lady with a sweet pleasent manner

Steven was our waiter, nothing was too much trouble and explained all of our questions about the menu. He was even nice enough to take a picture of us

The Dressed Crab was delicious

The Steaks were grilled to exactly what we had requested

I had the best Salmon ever. So big and cooked so well

The Eton Mess was truly the best ever

We had Cocktails and wine too of course

We shall be returning that's for sure

Went tonight for the first time was slight on edge due to the reviews I’ve read. But must say from the moment we entered the staff where friendly and obliging to our needs. We where sat next to some moany couple who moaned about the pork which I had chosen. But I decided to go ahead and order and wow glad I did. It was stunning and yes moany couple I had crackling. My partners had the chicken who is the most fussy eater and ate every last bit. We had side a few side including the sour dough bread. Which was amazing. Defiantly on our choice of place to go again.

User

We were bought this as a groupon deal and have to say it was absolutely gorgeous. We opted for starter and main and would have just paid extra for dessert but we were both too full. The place is lovely, the staff are

Lovely and very attentive and the food was gorgeous. We both had the beetroot/feta cheese and walnut to start which was quite small but very nice. My husband had the fish and I had the burger which was presented beautifully, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back and book a meal here.

User

Myself and my dad had lunch at the Marco Pierre white resteraunt in Cardiff today to celebrate his 65th birthday tomorrow.

I must say it was a fab experience.

The drinks were lovely, and food even better.

We had the smoked salmon starter and the beetroot salad to start and the haddock and chips and the sirloin steak with triple cooked chips for our mains. The food was cooked to perfection and I couldn't have complained about one thing!

The young lady who served us was so attentive and polite. We got into conversation that we were there because it was my dad's 65th birthday tomorrow, and when we ordered our desserts (billionaires shortbread and sticky toffee pudding, which were both INCREDIBLE may I add) the waitress went above and beyond and delivered my dads dessert on a lovely wooden board with "happy birthday" written in chocolate and a candle in the shortbread. Such a kind and lovely gesture.

Would highly recommend to anyone, and we shall definitely be returning!

User

It is a shared kitchen with the hotel still the food is great.

Decor is good

Lighting is good

Staff were great

It's is a relaxed place

No rushing.

Omg the steak was the best I have ever had.

And I am not one for "Afters" but the Eton mess omg again the best.

If you are near and want decent grub, yeah go here.

User

Have visited a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Visited with a large group and with family and friends. The atmosphere, food and wine was very enjoyable. The staff were attentive. The lift is very slow it’s quicker to take the stairs and the tables were a bit cramped but the service, wine and food was excellent. Will visit again.

User

From the minute we walked in we were so well looked after.Customer care superb- the staff were lovely.Special day so we ate from the a la Carte Menu with Chateaubriand as our man.

If you looking for cheap don’t bother-if your looking for quality then I recommend highly.

Not someone who recommends restaurants but this is the exception.Thank you for a great afternoon.

User

The food was gorgeous. Unfortunately there were some items unavailable to order, olives being a favourite of mine (onion rings too). Even though it was a busy bank holiday weekend, I didn’t expect a restaurant of this quality to run out of menu items. Lava bread cake was also off the menu for the Welsh breakfast, lots of disappointed discussions among the punters this morning. A spotlessly clean, extremely well presented restaurant with kind and friendly staff.

User

Our welcome was warm, the barman was lovely and the food we had was fabulous. So far, 5 star.

Disappointed with the rooftop bar, which was tiny with views of air con units and rooftops of buildings below, and the fact that no one came to offer me a dessert menu, so we left without ordering my favourite part of a meal. We wound return as it is a lovely place to eat. Just need to sharpen up on customer awareness.

User

Getting into the restaurant was an experience we hadn't prepared for or was told that there are seperate lifts. We ended up in another part of the hotel with no directions or assistance from the restaurant.

When we eventually arrived we were shown to our seats my a lovely girl called Jenny who was exceptionally attentive throughout, however there was a shift change during our meal and the level of service changed. Our food was excellent however and I would go back. Disappointingly we paid our bill, then the server came back and asked for more money due to her under charging us on our bill. I've never had that experience before.

User

Booked for the set lunch offer which was very reasonable for 2 courses.

Greeted by a very friendly young lady who showed us to our table. We chose our drink which was a reasonably priced Pinot Grigio and then our starters and main. I gad Salmon tartare to start and wasn’t disappointed. My friend had the mushroom soup which was also very good. For main course I gad the Chicken Forestiere and my friend had the Pork belly, both of which were tasty and a good portion for lunch. We finished with 2 coffees.

All in all, good service, lovely food and a very relaxing experience (nice background music too). Will definitely visit again.

User

Table booked for party of 4.

3 of our party ordered the same meal, the waitress came back & informed us that there wasnt any left. Bit disappointing, but no problem, they ordered different meals. However, people who arrived after us, (& seemingly placed their order after us), had their food 1st & happened to have the meal that the restaurant had "run out" of. (& not just 1 meal, about 5 or 6 of said meals came out of the kitchen!)

Food was ok. 1 of our party had the steak & ale pie which only comes with a pot of peas.... bit of a rip-off at £16! Was offered chips & they brought them out straightaway. Other meals were ok. Service was slow.

The only reason i gave it 3 stars was because the sticky toffee pudding for dessert was beautiful.

User

Let’s say I won’t be in a rush to go back but enjoyed the experience.Lovely staff very friendly & helpful but sadly have not been given the adequate training which you expect when dining with this name of expertise. Prawn cocktail had brownish lettuce covered with prawns. Calamari was greasy & fries were cold.Toilets are situated on another floor and the view outside is masked by buildings & scaffolding. When dining on 6th floor you want plenty of glass which will accentuate light as I felt it was to dark & lacked a room with a view!Don’t ask for a floater coffee as the girls had a shot at it and did very well although they both admitted not being trained for it and offered us a refund if it was right! Come on Marco you need to get your act together..When dining at your place a girl expects her napkin placed on her lap and her champagne refilled not by herself..

User

A girly catch up, all excited to be going to MPW. We had groupon vouchers which helped (2 courses and a glass of wine).... hmmmm.... it was beautifully decorated even if the toilets are a fair walk away on another floor!!

We were shoved in a corner with a massive hole in the table cloth! We had to go to the bar twice to say we were ready to order- no one could see us from the bar!

We had to ask 3 times for a jug of water and when we asked to swap 2 of the glasses of wine in the deal for soft drinks were repeatedly told no, not possible, managers orders, despite the fact that one friend was pregnant and the other doesn’t drink! No flexibility or common sense at all!!

The food was ok but not amazing, the apple crumble only tasted of cinnamon! The service was slow and we asked for the bill...twice... to find a £10 service charge had been added! No thanks!!

Would have been worse if we hadn’t had the voucher... or maybe we were treated like that because we had vouchers...! Over all not the amazing experience we had expected

User

We had a table booked for 3 people but on arrival we had to wait several minutes before being seated - the place was half empty so found this a little unnecessary. While we were waiting we did comment that that the decor was very lovely and tastefully done.

We were seated and given menus. After a few minutes we stopped someone and asked to order rinks but were told that she would come back in 5 minutes, again unnecesary considering it was at this point fairly quiet in there.

Drinks arrived and I tasted my strawberry daiquiri and it tasted dreadful, a chemical taste like the glass hadn’t been rinsed properly. I informed someone and to be fair they took it away, came back to inform me that I was correct and issued me with a new one.

I ordered the steak and ale pie which came with peas. I asked not have them as I don’t like them and personally think that places that serve just peas and carrots with everything are lazy and unimaginative. There are lots of tastier, more interesting veg to serve. I wasn’t offered an alternative even though the peas were included in the price.

When the pie arrived, it was literally just that. No potatoes of any form, granted they weren’t mentioned on the menu but find it a bit odd. So basically I paid £15.95 for a pie that was about 5” across and a 1/4” deep, with about a 4 pieces of steak. It tasted quite nice but definitely not worth that amount of money.

My friend ordered the shepherds pie which was £15.50 and was the same size!

As the waitress was clearing the table she asked how the food was to which we replied average. She didn’t respond to this comment.

All in all itv s not an experience I would like to repeat. I’m more than happy to pay decent money for decent food but feel this place is not worth the prices it charges.

User

The whole experience was a shambles from the beginning. I booked our table for 2.15pm so not during a rush period, but it still took 45mins for us to be shown our seats. Whilst waiting in the bar area, I showed the bar tender a birthday email, from the company, saying I could have various drinks free (including a bottle of prosecco)..... Unsure of what to do, he sent someone else over... Again, the email was checked and she also had to 'go and check'..... Finally, I got my bottle of prosecco but then had to email my email to the restaurant for the company that sent me the email!!

We finally got seated and given the basic set menu (Groupons deals used)... Very limited selection, and basic pub food (mains were burger, fish n chips, shepherds pie, and macaroni cheese).... My father actually ordered from the main menu (American burger for £17).... The food was average. Not what we were expecting.... No better than any other burger place you find around Cardiff. In fact, my burger was over cooked and found it hard to swallow without a mouthful of water with it!

The place itself is nicely decorated and the staff were polite enough (although the service was slow constantly).

We didn't complain as we had the Groupons and I eventually had my free birthday drink, but it still cost just short of £100 for the experience.... If I was paying full price for all that, I'd have been complaining!!

I won't be returning and I don't recommend this place.

User

My husband and daughter went to this restaurant in Cardiff on Monday 16 July. After being sat at out table and handed menus we ordered drinks that took a good 15 minutes to arrive after asking where they were twice. When we went to order our food we were then advised that at least 4 of the starters were not available, a couple of the main courses, all of the soups to replaced by tomato. My daughter ordered a steak with mushroom sauce, we were advised 5 minutes later that the sauce was not available. When our food arrived it was very good, however we felt that the restaurant was understaffed with a very moody chef. I have sent an email direct but had no response which is why this review has been put out on social media.

User

We booked the evening meal for two with Groupon.

Once we were at our table it took a while before someone came to take our drinks order. We ordered the food at the same time in case there would be another delay.

We only had 4 choices of starter and main. This was reduced to 3 choices as they had run out of beefburgers. This was early on too, 18:30, so not after the mad dinner rush.

The choices were very limited considering what they offer on the main menu.

I opted for the Macaroni Cheese as I did not fancy a pie or fish. My partner had the fish.

My meal was extremely bland, not what you would expect in a restaurant like this. The fish and chips were mediocre. After our meal there was yet again a delay in the dishes being cleared away. We were also not asked whether we would like to see the desert menu.

We asked for the bill as we had ordered a beer (which was not covered by the Groupon Voucher). We were given the bill for someone else in the first instance and then our bill was £11. They actually charged us £4.50 for WATER.

The service throughout was very slow. In a restaurant of that standing one would expect excellent, attentive service, but that was far from it. We were not the only customers dissatisfied by this.

I feel they are going about things the wrong way. If you offer deals on Groupon you should at least make sure the diners have a good experience and excellent food with choices to entice them to come back. We will not be returning.

If you are going to charge the prices you do maybe you should be investing in training your staff. You would expect to have your napkin placed on your lap, to be helped with your chair, to be asked for your drinks choice straight away, etc

We were really looking forward to our dining experience with you, however left very disappointed!

User

Booked a table for four for Sunday lunch. I had the lamb which was ok, the others had beef which was dreadful - grey, very fatty and tasteless. The staff were very pleasant and apologetic when told about the low quality beef, but why would a chef allow such poor food to leave his kitchen? Another restaurant serving poor food at inflated prices because there's a famous name over the door. I will not be going back. Sorry Marco....
