... The Classical dressage (and riding by extension) is school of lightness and of partnership with the horse. The aim is to make one body with the horse rather than being 2 bodies going in the same direction with one over the other. A strong basis is a must before building on the more advanced exercises.
Every horse and every rider has different abbilities but can all do pretty much everything with the proper trainning.
There will be no quick fixing here, but long term work. Doing homeworks to evolve faster.
Every lesson will be different to fit every horse and rider requirements, abilities and goals.
Private lesson : £40 Shared lesson : £22 each group lesson on enquiery only. Price including hire of the indoor school, weather and booking permiting we might go in the outdoor.

I know, it s in French again!!!
But this is the basis!!!! (advance basis but still) suppleness, lightness, independence of the aids, awarness of the full body (yours and your horse's)...
If you can do that, you have a horse in order, "submissive" as they say (hate this term!!), focused on your demand and willing to work.
... It obviously has to be done in decontraction and not in force, and most important for most or British riding people, it has to come ALL the aids, not just kick and pull as some can make you do....
Some people say I m not quick enough, they want results fast... But it can t happen if the basis is not here, and building a strong basis that will serve you for life takes time!! But then, what an harmony, riding becomes a symphony, an osmosis.
Dream to make one, work to make one and you ll become one entity... Then there will be no limits to what you can achieve!!!

*Long post with exiting news, please scroll down!!* As you all know now, I have been very quiet regarding lessons and clinics due to me being pregnant. I am very conscious that I have to be careful and slow down my activity which is what I am doing. The other big point is that the decision of moving to Washington is not far from being made, which means I will only be here until September. There is then another 8/9months when I will be able to help around and I would like ever...ybody to have the opportunity to try and start to go down the Classical Dressage path with me. DO NOT think this is too short, as there can be huge differences made in a shorter time, if you are committed and work hard, you can be well established in Novice and starting Elementary before the summer even if you are only doing Prelim or starting Medium when you are working in Elementary, etc. Jumping people don’t think this is not for you, dressage is the basis of everything and a lot can be made in term of balance, partnership, bravery.
To make sure you can achieve your goals, I am bringing the weekly and fortnight deals back and I am also working on 2 different clinics around Dundee to fit everybody’s purses. There will be very few spaces available
* Weekly deal : we meet every week at your place or at a venue of your choice. We will be able to build a strong working schedule to optimise your training and make the most of it. Starts at as little as £12/week for 45min private. * Fortnight deal : same as the weekly deal but we see each other less often. Starts at £17/lesson. For both deals, lessons will be private but a “group” price can be made with a group of riders from the same yard having lessons one after the other.
* EASTER RATTRAY (Blairgowrie). I am aiming to hold this clinic at least fortnightly but could make it weekly if there is enough interest. £40 private £22 each shared Can be for dressage or jumping. Group of 3 or 4 riders can be arranged but you have to be aware you will get less attention.
* MUIRDRUM (DD7 6LE) new indoor school. Same as for Easter Rattray, this clinic should be help fortnightly. Dressage lesson : £50 private - £27 each shared Jumping lesson : £55 private - £30 each shared Again groups are possible on enquiry.

About camps/clinics.
I was thinking about doing some 1 day camp/clinic at Howe (or closer to you if enough interest) working over 2 or 3 cessions each time with stabling for the day. I would do once a month so we could work really hard over that day and allow you to have homework for a month. Cessions would be different each time to meet your needs and making sure you achieve your goals.
It would have to be over weekdays as you know weekends are not easy to get.
My plan is to work on 1 pur dressage day and 2 weeks after 1 jumping/eventing orientated day so everybody could get what they need. also, some private or shared clinic type of cessions would be available if time.
Let me know what you think about that.
Also the 3 days camp may return, weekends available after April or some weekday earlier, let me know your availabilities!!

Today I went through a great metaphor I would like to share with you. I was watching an episode from a TV show I like and one of the characters used it.
So here it is : Everyone has 3 hearts. The first one is the “public” heart. The one strangers would see, showing the person you would like to be, not necessarily the one you truly are. The second heart is the “family” heart. Only the chosen ones can see it. You can be completely different with close people than with strangers.... The third heart is the “secret” heart. This is the trickiest part of you, no-one should see, apart maybe from your soul mate.
I very much like this metaphor as it is very close to my way of thinking.
Now, when we work with animals, especially horses (and dogs) we can’t pretend, we can’t hide. To find the perfect harmony with your horse you have to reveal yourself, to give everything without asking for something in return. This path is not an easy path, it takes time, first to know ourselves enough to open the shell, but also to accept to expose ourselves.
I am not asking you to change your mind straight away, but think about the relationship you have with your horse right now. And think about what you would like.
I have always wanted a very strong partnership with the horses I have been working with. Respect, trust, bound… There is no limit to what you could get, so do not limit yourself. Open up, try something new and work hard for what you want, whatever it is. Nobody is perfect, make mistakes!! Your horse will forgive you as much as you have to forgive your horse.
