Interesting points on popularity decline of flats, my own view having flipped many over the years is that service charges and leasehold status put many buyers off, I advise clients and friends to buy a small house instead, may not tick all the lifestyle boxes but generally a safer investment.

Busy Sunday meeting contractors at my latest project in West Wales. The property was a self build inspired by a French Long House, unfortunately the owners had been unable to finish the project and it was difficult to sell to buyers requiring a mortgage. As a cash buyer this isn’t a problem for me and over the next few months I’m hoping to fully finish the house before passing it over to it’s next custodian.
This property was bought from a client who contacted us directly, it was in poor condition and the client was overwhelmed by the amount of work and costs involved in refurbishing it. I bought the property cash as it would not have been suitable for mortgage security. We've made good progress with this project (in Cardiff), roof stripped and ready for renewal, rear lean to demolished and waiting on planning for new extension, the interior was stripped to bare brick, first fix plumbing and electrical in. We have plaster boarded the house throughout and are skimming to get a higher quality finish, new concrete ground floor will be going in over next few days.

I bought this period house in Newport from a family relocating to SE England, it was very dated and has been completely refurbished. We are close to the end of the project with the lads clearing the rooms and finishing off the last few jobs, next week we will prepare the house which will be sold to a new family.
