After a slight hiatus, we made it to Marys. Gordon, Jack and Matt made us really welcome. Would recommend this venue to all my friends

Some many months ago, a (Gay) friend was having his party in here, so after I finished work I intended to join. This same man everyone else is complaining about, refused to let me in, saying I needed to have a table booked (?? What about all the other customers stood around the place with no table then??) I was calm and definitely not intoxicated having just finished work, and just repeated that it was my friends party. He rudely just replied "nope.sorry." and looked away as if I wasn't even there. I tried ringing a few friends to come out, but as expected the music was too loud for them to hear. He wouldn't even allow me to point my friends out to prove it. I really didn't want to let my mate down and had made effort to come, so had to stand outside until eventually one of them came out into the smoking area. Without saying a word he just nodded me in ≡ƒ¤È .... low and behold not ONE person in there had a friggin table booked! What on earth was his problem! ....



Second time, more recently, a small group of us were on a night out, our boy mate asked if we could pop into Mary's with him as he rarely gets chance to go in Gay bars as there aren't any where he lives. It was the beginning of the night so again - no one was intoxicated or acting up. He and 2 others went on ahead as me and another girlfriend finished up our drinks. As we approached - he refused us entry on the basis we didn't have a table. I reminded him he'd done this to me before and that no one had booked tables - also our friends who we were out with had literally just gone in there - with no table! As per the first time, he ignored me and looked away. We tried messaging our other friends inside to say we couldn't get in to which point we again had to stand by waiting. As I knew it could be a while, I observed him with other customers and made it my prerogative to ask them beforehand if they had tables - as soon as they said no (which they all did!) I made him aware and he had to refuse them too. It sounds jerky, but the only jerk was him. He then got quite passive-aggressive in grabbing my arm and telling me to move away (as he was obviously causing them loss of business through my monitoring, btw I was no where near the club entrance either) I then proceeded to record him, and had he caused bruising I'd have had him arrested for assault as he had absolutely no right to ever touch me, but as soon as he knew this he went quiet for the camera. Eventually our friends came out wondering what was going on/why we taking so long - I told them to get a refund for both their entry and their drinks, which was surprisingly quickly done! (Probably wanted us away as quickly as they could so they could admit entry to only GAY people again.) As we left he (and another short skinny bouncer) smirked and waved us off. Never in my life have I ever had or caused trouble whilst out, so to be treated so badly was appalling.



Whilst recording - a customer of the club in the smoking area asked why I was filming. Once I told him I got the impression (although the bouncer wouldn't admit it of course) that only GAY people were allowed in, he responded, "well yeah, this is a gay club". I can't even begin to outline the ignorance of that comment. I've been raised by 2 mothers so have grown up on the gay scene and in Gay bars so can appreciate the struggles of equality and being accepted. You'd therefore think he (owners of this club/whoever shares this opinion) could appreciate the upset if they were refused entry to every straight venue in Cardiff based on their sexual preference - there'd be uproar, so what right does this place have to discriminate against straight people? It's disgusting. Worse part was I didn't really want to go in there anyway, on both occasions it was just to be a good friend and show my support.It appears through reading other reviews, and others I have spoken to about this, it's a common happening. I'm almost tempted to raise this with the media.



Just for their stinking attitudes alone I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone - Gay or straight. I'd rather give my custom to any other club than this one, goes against the grain of any fun friendly gay bar I've ever been in.

As for those mentioning why management isn't responding: this arrogant **** is obviously only taking orders from the powers above, I.e. they're all in it together. I hope Karma serves the door brute a nice cold cup soon - when he assaults the wrong person and there's evidence for the police. Revoke his badge, nothing but a powermad bully.

Ur door man lied to us saying we cldnt go in b3cause it was an hour wait at 8pm we came back and the tall twat still wldnt let us in he blantantly lied to us saying it was full yet let people in

My friend had been here before and we had heard really good things about this place so thought we would check it out, 11pm we was told that the place was ΓÇ£fullΓÇÙ yeah right ∩┐╜ and then they continued to let people in behind us! When asked how they were allowing other people in, was told we just wasnΓÇÔt coming in end of! Fair enough if we was drunk/or not dressed appropriately I would understand but to be turned away with no explanation! Talk about judgment, I thought a place like that would be more welcoming but obviously not ... shocking!!!! Team PULSE anyday

The third event of tonight was the actual worst thing IΓÇÔve ever witnessed. At a mental health event as well, I felt like a fool for thinking this wouldnΓÇÔt mock me. There is nothing about it that was good. I have never felt so awful at any show here before.



Whether or not I am a person of poor mental health is irrelevant.

The performer empltied a bottle of pills into their mouth, mid performance!!! As a foe-suicide attempt. I have never been so horrified and triggered in my life, I wanted to vomit.

This was seriously unacceptable At A MENTAL HEALTH CHARITY EVENT.

ItΓÇÔs not just in poor judgment, itΓÇÔs scarring. ItΓÇÔs triggering, and itΓÇÔs totally inappropriate.
