Stunning restaurant - we come here whenever in Dolgellau. It’s run by a lovely family - two brothers - with amazingly cooked, carefully chosen local food. They also accommodated the full range of food intolerances we brought with us, and not in a kind of cutback way. Beautifully cooked, but intolerance aware.

Loved this place! Had a delicious veggie option and friendly staff - beautiful views, especially nice if you can get a table facing the mountains.

Since we were staying in LLanelltyd for a week, and due to be joined by 4 other people, we were looking forward to trying this local eatery.

Unfortunately this place hasn’t moved on since the 1950’s (when children and sometimes women were banned from pubs and restaurants).

We were turned away because we are on holiday with our 16 month old son, and told ‘no under 5s are allowed’. Anyone who has ever had children knows how hard it can be especially for parents with young kids. You go on holiday wanting to spend some quality leisure time with the people nearest to you, only to find that your family members are discriminated against because of their age.

I find discrimination of all kinds abhorrent, but this kind of discrimination hurts young families the most, some of the people who need our support, and for life to be made easier for them, not to endure the stress and upset of being refused to be served due to age discrimination.

Do yourself ( and everyone else) a favour and avoid this place, there are plenty of other great places to eat which are friendly to all humans, not just certain ones.

Food is outstanding, smoked halibut risotto delicious. Booking recommended.

This is an unusual rating as I've never eaten here,but I will when I'm in the area (I'm a delivery driver,this is the only customer that I've ever rated).The resterauant and kitchen are always spotless, the staff are really nice. The location is fantastic. Looking forward to eating here!

The best food in North Wales.. After eating here for many years and always receiving the best attention, the best service ( with smiles) and it can't be beaten. Will and his brother have made us the best food we have ever tasted anywhere on the planet, and we have eaten a wide range of local, regional and national foods from many countries, but always love the food at the Mawddach. If you are in North Wales and want fine food, lovely atmosphere and a plate that is crafted with love, it is a no brainer. Only wish we had more time to come and enjoy an evening of lovely food. But do book as we have learnt that lesson. See you soon Will.
