Meraki Silver Description
I can work with most coins however I recommend that silver coins are used, why?
Uk coins contained silver up until 1946. Between 1920 and 1946, silver coins were 50 /50 silver copper mix.
Uk coins minted pre 1920 cointain 92. 5% silver (sterling)
American and Canadian silver coins are 90% silver up to 1964. Other countries vary but I can find out for you on request
These coins will resist tarnish and oxidisation, and will not affect the skin.
Uk coins struck post 1946 are mostly made from copper /nickel. These will tarnish quickly and may affect the skin if you have an allergy.
Copper reacts with acids in the skin and will turn your finger green over time. This can fade over time as the inside of the ring oxidises. I am happy to make these rings for you. Please treat them as costume jewellery.
Prices vary according to the coin used. I source most coins from ebay and I am happy to discuss options with you. If you wish to supply your own coin, please feel free!
Prices start at £20 for copper and copper /nickel coins.
Silver coin rings start are generally between £30 - £50 but I will confirm with you prior to order
I can work with Gold sovereign coins also.
I take about a week to turn around orders. If you're local I can help you size up as i have equipment here.
