We enjoyed our weekend break here. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the centre of Cardiff. Our room was lovely and spacious and we enjoyed the buffet breakfast each morning. We didn’t have much time to spend in the spa but my husband had a swim in the pool Sunday morning. I confess I could have been tempted to use the jacuzzi but it wasn’t in use which was a shame. The hotel bar was nice for a drink before bed and popular with fellow guests. I’d definitely recommend the hotel.

User

Very warm welcome. Lovely hotel room, beautiful breakfast. ..wide choice to suit all. All in all it was an amazing experience. The spa was lovely too, clean but very cold swimming pool. My daughters hen do will be a happy memory for all of us.

User

Secured my usual free upgrade...rooms are excellent, the food is great and Matthew the bar managers’ service is as exceptional as ever! Always a pleasurable stay here, the only reoccurring business trip I actually look forward to, thank you

User

Really pleased with recent stay for mine and my best friends birthday !

Special thanks to Matthew in the bar who gave a smashing service, also Calvin was very kind.

Also spa staff are very over worked but do an exceptional job.

We ate breakfast and dinner both nights and it was delicious !

User

Had a lovely spa day. Facilities were great, including modern and clean changing rooms. The staff were all very helpful and friendly! Really enjoyed unwinding in the relaxation room - will definitely recommend to my friends and will be back soon!!

User

Cannot fault our stay this weekend , impeccable service from EVERY single staff member who looked after us. The bar area is great and the food / breakfast was delicious. The manager was hilarious and made us feel welcome. The room was clean and had everything we needed and the spa was a nice added bonus . Ok you didn’t have towels but we bought our own anyway so wasn’t a huge deal we will definitely come back and stay again . Thankyou

User

Most odd. Bar of soap used once was replaced with a new (still packaged) bar, but the empty box of tissues left next to it was not! Bedroom looks tired and in need of a refurb. Staff, however, were polite, helpful and willing. Free Wi-fi was good and worked throughout the hotel. Breakfast was lovely, and the dinners for the conference were SUPERB! I would stay here again for a conference - but would not choose this for a holiday.

After a very disappointing day last week where I had to unexpectedly cancel my mum to be spa day due miscommunication about filming in the spa, late rearranging of my treatment and the lack of apologies from staff on the way this was handled I was very dissatisfied with the service I received. I reported my upset and disappointment of the spoilt day to the hotel and was invited back this week for them to redeem themselves and make it up to me for the poor service I received. I throughly enjoyed the experience, I felt very relaxed which is certainly what I felt I need after a difficult pregnancy so far. The service from all the staff I came in contact with was excellent, Amanda who did my treatment was very professional and lovely as was Bradlee the manager who organised the day and made sure all my needs were catered for. It's a shame the service couldn't have been like this the first time around, it takes nothing to be nice to someone. I very much appreciated the day and felt the hotel more than made it up to me and giving me VIP treatment and service which I certainly didn't expect but was grateful for. This is how you should feel on a spa day. The only reason I am giving the hotel a 4* is due to the cleanliness of the pool area, I think more monitoring and cleaning checks need to be done to keep on top of the changing rooms and the poolside as they looked very dirty and unhygienic in places. But overall thank you a wonderful relaxing day

User

Where do we begin, selected bottle of wine waited 5 mins apologies we don’t have that one, select another, 5 mins sorry we don’t have that one either. Choose our food, guess what starter sold out. Today off to the Spa low and behold no towels. Never mind chilled for a couple of hours, upto restaurant bottle of champagne and I select cheese board we can offer you crackers if you don’t like oat cakes, lovely we will have half and half, 10 minutes later apologies no crackers. Manager comes out and apologises I joke treatments tomorrow hope they don’t run out of oils, thought I would just check, good job I did they have the oils but no therapist, so sorry we were going to contact you, I checked in last night why have you not called me. Wait and see what happens next, we are still smiling

Just returned from a night stay .hotel looks impressive. Reception quick and friendly .pool was freezing but still had a swim Jacuzzi was small and crammed because pool temperature was so cold on a timer so bubbled for 5 mins. Our room .spacious cleanliness well this is where I'm gonna moan. Outside our door was a tray of empty bottles and dirty plates that was still there when I left this lunchtime. Decided to watch a late movie last night moved an arm chair for tv to have my bare foot scratched look down and there was what I would describe as a food deposit decomposed and stuck to carpet which was rock hard and hasn't seen the light of day in months .so the cleaners hoovered around and not moved chairs in a very long time. Large wall mirror had so many smears you could right your name. Then finally I pulled back my thin duvet to a very creased sheet and very poorly made wasn't sure but I don't think the sheet had been changed so i slept on top of duvet with my clothes on . Didn't kick off as my lovely friend had gave me as a birthday treat

So manager of hotel the room was 1009 .tell your maids to shut the linen cupboards In corridor because it looked a sight quilts thrown on floor .Didn't look good and staff need training on how to clean to a high standard plus daily checks that bed linen is changed after departure and rooms audited this was grim for a 4* .Cardiff it self was fab as always.

User

Stayed here last weekend as a group of ten friends. I last stayed a few years ago and wasn’t disappointed previously so I was looking forward to staying again. Sadly it didn’t live up to it, the pool and jacuzzi need a good clean and the water changing. The water was cloudy in both and the edges of the pool and jacuzzi need a good scrub. The jacuzzi had lots of sand like grit in the bottom of it which was really off putting and the white plastic grip plates around the edge was filthy, coming back into the changing room couldn’t help notice that the skirting board was missing from the wall which looked really scruffy.

Our room was spacious (505) however our bath was still dirty on check in, we had to ring reception to ask for it to be cleaned as it contained pubic hair! Half an hour later I gave up waiting and had a shower, when the cleaner arrived to clean the bath after leaving I checked and the pubic hair was still in there!! Had to ring down again!

A really disappointing stay, we came here to enjoy the Spa facilities but spent less than an hour in there due to its poor state.

User

Reception is 4 * and my facial was 4* but I must say how disappointed in the spa facilities. It felt to me like the whole place needed a good clean, the jacuzzi worked when it felt like it, the steam room wasn’t very clean, and by 4 o’clock it felt like everything was being turned off.

When I went upstairs for my treatment the tables were full of used cups and glasses. No water available before treatments. Also I think when people have a spa day it’s to relax but instead we had kids jumping-screaming & diving into the pool! Maybe management need to look at certain times for spa days as I understand if they have family passes but it’s certainly not what someone wants to hear while on a relaxing spa day

I do think they need to look into updating and cleaning the facilities!

I was facilitating a workshop and found myself not in a training room, but a bedroom suite which was far than ideal.

When I arrived , it was chaos in reception with just one team member dealing with about 15 guests in a Q to check out. There was another Q even longer with people wanting to leave bags.

I was stunned by the lack of signs downstairs in reception on how to get to conference rooms, I found myself wandering over 3 floors before I accidentally bumped into the conference organiser.

Karin, was fantastic it helping me find the room and looking after me and the other team members that came to apologise that I was running a workshop in a bedroom were also amazing , but I saw enough to put me off ever staying here, despite how great the people were.

User

I am currently sat in your relaxation room waiting for my treatment and it is suppose to be a quiet area as described by the sign at the entrance of the spa, I feel more stressed in here then I do anywhere else in the hotel. Everyone in here appart from me and my friend are being loud, will not stop talking and therapists have been in and out and not said a word, again it is a quiet zone and suppose to be a relaxation room.

User

the room in which we were placed with my husband is terrible the floor was not clean one of the bathrobes was dirty and scrawny the mirror dirty the sheet was crushed the table dirty. my husband paid for two days 339£ with the parking lot. I also have pictures for proof.

User

When we came we go on que, and then u had to wait for 45 mins because they said they cleaning the room and being set up, and then you had to que again to get a card key to them, when we walk to there hallway after entering our room , we saw a towel on the floor in front of our room ,bin bag on the side , so disgusting , when we enter the room the toilet is dirty , haven’t been flashed, towels smell like damp , bath tub is dirty, shower room door is so dirty, really bad quality of service there , receptionist is rude, we will never suggest to our friend to go there

User

Very disappointed. After spending two nights here for my birthday, my birthday gifts were stolen from our room whilst we were out. We informed reception straight away and then the duty manager rang the day that we returned home. His advice was to inform the police, no apology or offer of reimbursement, just inform the police. My birthday gifts were more important than their monetary value and only came to around £30 but still an offer of reimbursement would have been appreciated as a goodwill gesture. For a company the size of Mercure we are extremely disappointed and will not be staying with the chain again.

User

Very disappointed to hear that you don't support women's rights to discuss legislation that affects them and that instead you kowtow to bullying and intimidation. Perhaps you should research some of the issues women are concerned about. Such as the fact that the British Psychological Society and the British Association of Gender Specialists have both warrned the government that they are worried about the effects that have already been seen in prisons. They have reported that a rising tide of male sex offenders are now identifying as women in a bid to be moved to women's prisons to make sexual offending easier. The prison service informed the head of BAGIS the consultant James Barrett that about half of trans women in prison are sex offenders. The number of males in prison identifying as females almost doubled in the last year, demonstrating the British Psychological Societys concerns that men are making false claims.

If the government brought in this proposed law there is nothing to stop every male sex offenders in prison changing legal sex by simply signing a from . There would be no requirement to make any change to his body or dress. He would then have the automatic right to be housed in a woman's prison. And on his release use women's changing rooms and spaces. Because it would mean being a woman was simply based on a man's say so. If you think this is 'progresaive' I think you're sorely mistaken. It completely erodes women's rights to privacy.

Moreover members of the movement you have been intimidated by frequently advocates for violence against women. Only today a prominent trans activist has been found guilty of battering a 60 year old women punching her in the face and knocking her to the ground at Hyde park corner. If this is the sort of thing you support then I seriously question your statement against sexism. If you think women deserve to be intimidated, threatened and punched for being concerned about their rights then your groups moral compass is lacking.

Travelled 200 miles to get to an event they were hosting only to find the hotel had cancelled at the last minute. No reason or apology given. Later saw a libellous tweet alleging attendees of womansplaceuk org are sexist - which was then deleted. I have worked for and campaigned for equal rights and fairness all my life. I stay in a lot of hotels every year but I shan’t be using Mercure again. Poor decision and terrible public relations.
