Mid Wales Joint Committee/Cyd-Bwllgor Canolbarth Cymru

The MWJC works with providers and communities to plan and deliver safe, sustainable, high quality and accessible healthcare services in rural Mid Wales.

The Mid Wales Healthcare Collaborative (MWHC) will work with the Health Boards in Wales to ensure integrated and sustainable healthcare services for the people of Mid Wales. Central to this will be innovative ways of working through new models of care.

Firstly, ensuring people, patients, their representatives and health care staff are full and effective participants in planning and delivering new models of care. Secondly, where necessary, devising new and appropriate quality assurance methods that are patient outcome focussed and reflect the particular needs of rural Mid Wales. Thirdly finding new and effective ways to deliver care pathways that cross historical institutional, professional and geographical boundaries.

The work of the MWHC will be based on the following set of principles:

• Open and honest engagement
• Inclusiveness

The MWHC will identify and prioritise work to achieving this in relation to:

• Staff and services in Primary & Community Care including Community Hospitals;
• Pathways for more advanced care to meet the needs of people of Mid Wales, enhancing the strategic role of Bronglais General Hospital as a Rural General Hospital
the most appropriate provider of accessible secondary services;
• Academic research, post-graduate education and professional skills development to support the delivery of rural healthcare;
• Recruitment and retention of appropriately skilled staff to work in Primary Care, the Community and Bronglais General Hospital.
