amazing food and amazing service here tonight from the waiter - think her name was Penny. definitely my favourite miller and carter for staff and food!

Went here for a birthday meal mid week, and as always we had an amazing time. Food was spot on service was excellent. Our server was Ryan who was polite, chatty and helpful without being pushy. Would definitely recommend.

We've just left after having had a really great experience!

We were looked after by Kate, who gave impeccable service throughout. After offering drinks as soon as we were sat, she looked after us and made sure we didn't have to ask for a single thing.

Our starters, main meals and desserts were all delicious.

I had the Fillet, my son the T-Bone and my husband the Ribs. All were hot, served timely and cooked to absolute perfection.

We will most definitely be back!

Visited on a busy Friday evening (9/2/18) for my Son's Birthday & we had a brilliant time all round. The food was outstanding, steaks in particular were top notch & desserts to die for! Service was excellent by an awesome waiter (whose name we didn't get) beard with a Spanish accent. He was wonderful with my 7-yr-old Granddaughter and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely atmosphere in clean, comfortable surroundings. Will definitely be back & highly recommend 👌🏻

Lovely lunch today, staff were friendly and professional, even though they were rushed off their feet! Great table service from Dan who was very attentive even though he was serving several tables at once, and very patient with dear old mum who was a bit befuddled by the menu. Food was served promptly, piping hot and exactly as we’d ordered. We will definitely be visiting again. Thanks all for a lovely afternoon!

I booked a table for my birthday last night & everything was excellent! The waitress was very accommodating because a family member was running late & i was anxious that if we didn't order soon we would be rushed because the table may have been needed for a later reservation! I explained the situation so she checked with the manager & told us not to worry, they would allocate another table if we hadn’t finished by the time the next party arrived! Our food arrived & was delicious, everyones steak was cooked to perfection, could fault the food or the service! :)

First time I have ever been here and I just want to say I could not fault the staff I can’t remember the waitresses name but she was amazing the service was on point and the food well what can I say, I will sure to be coming back

Arrived to a wonderful welcome, we had pre lunch drinks in the lounge and were then showed to our table. We were served by friendly staff who were very helpful with the menu. Our food arrived and was very well presented and exactly prepared to our liking, the steaks were amazing. Looking forward to my next visit.

Miller and Carter is my favourite restaurant. Been to a few. � Was there yesterday and our meal was stunning. However I did miss the normal garlic bread. The one we were served was a baguette with garlic butter brushed across the top. Hopefully it was because of the weather conditions you couldn't get your normal bread. Still it was fab we had the Sunday lunch menu. Can't wait to try the one that's opening soon in Swansea. Best fillet steak I've had in all the Miller and Carter's. �

Found this by chance when looking for somewhere to eat with work colleagues as in Cardiff Gate for business. Would recommend booking in advance, as when we arrived had at least a half hour wait for a table. That said, the rump steak (12oz) possibly one of the best I’ve ever eaten! Great waitress... but can’t remember her name unfortunately!!

The starters were nice! My MAIN was YUK AMD THE Desert was not a crumble at all it tasted like it was put in a microwave 🤭 really disappointed as the last time we went to Miller&carter in the bay it was lovely ! We had a nice time as it was my friends bday but it kinda ruins it when everyone was saying the same thing about the food! I wouldn’t go back there maybe we could try the one in town next time ?

Firstly the food is excellent , the steaks and burgers they served were beyond compare . BUT the service was terribly slow , at one point I had to go looking for someone to say that we would like to have our deserts please . Also the room was uncomfortably hot such that it I was a relief to jump back in the car afterwards to cool down . I think we will stick to

Came here for Valentines night.

Don't get the most pleasant of welcomes here compared to the Cardiff Miller & Carter branch, who's staff can't do enough for you and are very attentive. This has been the case on each occasion I have been to Thornhill.

On a good note our meals were served quite quickly and the food was good.

Our bill at the end of the night had an extra £23 added on so good job we checked & then this was rectified.

If all staff smiled a little more & improved their customer service skills I'm sure reviews would drastically improve!

The first people I met were the receptionist’s they were pleasant and professional. The barman needs to go on a customer service course= Had a shitty attitude that was easy to detect. Tables and decor is pleasant, spotlights need to be adjusted as they shone directly in my face. I ordered the scallops as a starter, there were three of them and the one scallop was missing half of its self😳 worst part they were not seared and were practically raw! I had the ribeye and it was very good, perfect as medium, real shame they spoil it by serving McDonalds French fries with the meat. The rioja wine was spot on and the creme brûlée was good. Needed to be harder on top. Really disappointed with the scallops and For the price you expect better!

Just wanted to say how disappointed I am with my first ever experience here , I love Miller and carter however ,I had never been to the thornhill branch so decided to give it a go and booked for valentines night. I booked a table for 6:15 we were shown to our seat and shortly after a waitress approached us to take our order we had our starter and had requested the steak to be well done . When the steak was brought out it was rare so we told them this isn’t how we had requested so the lovely waitress did apologise and it was taken away . Shortly after we had received another steak which seemed to be what we had requested so we started to eat it , the waitress then approached us very apologetic to inform us that this in fact wasn’t our order and it was another tables, they were again apologetic and said they would return with our order shortly . So after another wait this arrived a few minutes later again rare like the first . So that was also sent back , we were understanding that it was valentines night and these things do happen so had agreed to wait again !! by now after patiently waiting for a 4th time for our meal to arrive and be correct . After waiting around 20 minutes more we decided to leave, it was 8.15 nearly 2 hours after the table had been booked and we still not eaten .so quite a disappointing valentines night to say the least .we left with our deposit of £20 being refunded , and no alternative of eating else where as after all it was valentines night and every where would have been booked in advance .

Not only was the restaurant too hot with no air con what so ever during this heat is ridiculous, we were sat so close to the service door we were knocked every time the staff came out, and the food was foul!! I had my steak rare which came out more blue but thats fine its the about of fat on the steak there was more fat then meat and when i mentioned it to the waitress apparently its because how i take it if it was medium none of the fat would have been on the steak! Umm i doubt the amount of fat i had would magically disappear if it had an extra 5 minutes on the grill, ive attached a photo so you can judge for yourself if its acceptable for a £30 meal

So I called up in January to book a table for 20 people to celebrate my brothers 30th birthday. I wanted to book it for 2pm but I was told it would have to be at 12pm as they have another large party booked in at 3pm so we would need to be gone by then. This was fine so I booked it. I asked if i would get any sort of confirmation of booking and was told no because it was done over the phone.



I then recall ringing back 10 minutes later to check it was ok to bring our own birthday cake to which I was told it would be fine. Happy days.



So why the 1* rating you ask?



It's my brothers birthday TOMORROW so I called today just confirm that we was still coming to be told they have no record of our booking and that we must have booked a different place?! The person I spoke to made out that I was lying... they were extremely unhelpful and their attitude was basically 'tough luck'.

I was absolutely livid... especially knowing that I 100% booked a table!! So much so that I have been in touch with EE for my itemized bill which confirms I made the call on the 8th January at 3.05pm!!!

Having checked our 'What's App' group there is also a message in there on 8th January at 3.20pm where I have confirmed to the family that it's all booked and I also advised them that we would have to be out by 3pm..... now how or why would i make that shit up?!

I have family travelling over from Bristol and Manchester to celebrate with us and we have nowhere to go!! I have wasted my evening ringing 100's of different restaurants trying to get 20 people in at this short notice - needless to say it ain't happening.

So thank you very much for absolutely ruining my brothers surprise 30th birthday meal without even an inkling of an apology!!

Just had food at this restaurant the mains of which were delicious. However, we ordered the sharing dessert which came with a mini chocolate pot as part of it. This item had a, what I can only describe as a green mucous substance on one side of the pot. Having scraped this off thinking it was a mixture of some gold power on top, the chocolate was disgusting and inedible. We complained to the waitress who said she would feed back to the manager, Jose. This was absolutely pointless as we were ignored by the manager, and had to ask for a reduction as we were expected to pay full price for the item. The attitude of Jose was disgraceful, he didn’t even want to find out what the problem was, and said there had been no other complaints even though the waitress admitted that we were the third people to complain tonight. He begrudgingly refunded for a different dessert but by this point it was too late. Shame that taking family out for a Father’s Day meal ended like this, very disappointed and not what I would expect from restaurants like yours. Happy to supply picture of said item.
