This is the second time we have been and I must say it was excellent. My wife and I both had the rump and it was the tastiest steaks we have ever had and cooked to perfection. Our starters were great and my wife also had the mini desert with coffee which she thoroughly enjoyed and when she asked if she could have a floater coffee instead of the regular she was told no problem and there was no additional charge. The setting and atmosphere were great and even though it was busy we weren't put under any pressure to vacate our table quickly. The prices can seem expensive but when you consider the meal comes with the side order of lettuce wedge and choice of dressing and a sauce of you choice then at £14.95 it works out about the same as you would pay at any well established restaurants. A special mention has to be made to our waiter Rhydian who was polite, friendly, knowledgeable and professional at all times, nothing was too much trouble for him and I must say how smart all the staff looked in their uniforms. Can't wait to come back again soon.

User

Our first visit will be that if many, many future visits! My fiancè and I treat ourselves to the restaurant in Cardiff and are completely in love and converted to Killay's. The ribeye steak I had was, without a doubt, the best steak I have ever eaten! The service from Billie and the rest of the crew was second to none. Will be back soon, with anyone we can drag in tow!

User

My first experience to Miller And Carter yesterday and it sold me.. They were very accommodating considering I didn't book a table.. The 16oz Ribeye Steak was out of this world.. Best steak I've ever had.. Victoria was our waitress.. She was so polite and so helpful.. What she recommended made my meal even more tasteful.. And the chocolate brownie for dessert is to die for.. Will defo be back again.. Big thanks to Victoria and the rest of the staff at Killay..

User

My first Miller & Carter experience and I am sold! We were a party of seven on a very busy Sunday lunchtime, with most of the party choosing different meals from the fantastic Sunday set menu and not one person was disappointed. I had the boneless beef ribs with mashed potato and beef dripping sauce, which was amazing and the clotted cream lemon posset tart for dessert, wow! The service was fantastic and all the staff were so friendly, polite and welcoming. Special mention to Beth, our waitress who is a credit to the team. We all had a fantastic afternoon from start to finish, I will definitely be coming back!

User

Last night my husband and I went to Miller and Carter steakhouse for the first time. The occasion was to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary! I must say their food was out of this world. It is actually hands down the best meal I’ve ever had. The steak was cooked so well, and the presentation of the meals were excellent. The staff were so friendly, polite and accommodating! A place I would defiantly recommend to others and we will certainly be back.

User

First time at Miller and Carter this evening for an anniversary meal with my other half. Wendy our waitress was so lovely and welcoming. She guided us through the menu really well as we were both rookies! Very fair priced, relaxed atmosphere and the food was delicious! Who new a lettuce wedge could compliment a steak so well!

User

We were a party of four who all decided to go for the set lunch menu. The starters were all very good, and so were the mains, but the portion of sea bass was very small. House red is quite expensive at £20 a bottle.

We were quite surprised to find our waitress clearing away our main course while one of our party was eating. The desserts were very good, but we were very surprised when the waitress plonked our bill on the table, announcing two coffees were on their way, and she was off on her break. We hadn’t decided at this point whether we wanted anything else, but the decision had been made for us. I always thought it was customary to ask for the bill!

More training needs to be given to staff.

User

So been twice, first time was shocking but thought I'd give them a second chance before reviewing them. First time the service was shocking this time miles better; Lauren looked after us well didnt need to ask for a refill on the drinks..... And was polite.... The food wasn't as good as the first time but the service made up for it.

Would go back again after this experience.

Nice to see you guys have taken on board what most people have said and rectified it ÔøΩ

User

We visited last night for the first time to take advantage of the Thursday Date Night offer

1. Food was AMAZING! Aboslutely perfect have nothing else to say about it (5star)

2. The service was below average. Took 10 minutes to get offered drinks after going to tables that arrived after us. Once drinks ordered took another 15 minutes for it to be brought to our table even though we were right next to the bar and could see our drinks sat on the bar - if the waitress was busy why couldn’t the 5 people stood behind the bar bring it over they would have seen how long it was sat there especially when a pint was going flat when it was finally brought to he table the pint looked poor. Speed of food arriving was good. Finished dessert then asked for the bill............again we waited 20 minutes for that again after asking before 2 tables next to us. When the bill did arrive it was wrong they hadn’t applied the deal and it was £15 over what it should have been and then you could here the waitress talk to the barman/manager maybe I don’t know and say oh yeah well I suppose it is a tenner - as if we shouldn’t be asking to be charged the right amount, considering the whole part of an offer is to save money (2star)

For what you pay in a restaurant like that the service should at least be above what you expect from your local pub. So unfortunately I had to round the review score to 3! Such a shame.

User

We have always gone to Cardiff but thought why not try our newly opened local restaurant... was disappointed and it was all down to service. Food was amazing and same quality as Cardiff. Was greeted by our server Jess within minutes of being seated to ask for our drinks order, starters came out quick, (server was changed at this point) mains took awhile & end of our meal we sat & waited 15mins for dishes to be cleared away, then another 15mins later was asked if we wanted dessert but at this point it was a no & We got the bill promptly and left feeling disappointed. Hoping this is just teething problems but will see next time.

User

Was left to basically find our own table as the guy just ran off, nachos were great and the steak that was all... Starved all day for a good meal on date night and didn't even bother to try the desert. Staff need appropriate training and the side menu is just ridiculous. Really gutted as we heard such good things about this place... standards slipping.?.?.?.

User

This was my first Miller and Carter experience and I was totally underwhelmed. The place is nice and gives you the impression of something a bit more up market, especially with the above average prices. However the food is on a par with Wetherspoons or Harvester at best. Had the full rack of ribs for £16.95 which were ok but only had a smidgen of BBQ sauce on them. Chips were ok but there was only about 7 of them. The ‘house slaw’ was poor and came in a pot about half the size of an egg cup.

My other half had the half rack of ribs at £12.95 and she finished the lot and was still hungry - which never happens.

Service was pretty good to be fair but on the whole the food just ain’t up to it. Maybe it’s teething problems but we won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

User

Nice setting, food tasted ok, but where was the rest of it... ?

we had 2 lunch menu deals at £10.95 per person, plus £2.50 supplement for the beef dripping glazed "steak" , and 2 half lagers... for £35 ??!! (cheeky added vat on top according to the bill, they could have let us know beforehand).

Furthermore, you'd have to spend a fortune to come away from there full. They were tiny portions, the starter was tasty but super small(chicken and calimari) and while the service was polite and friendly, the starter plates weren't cleared when they brought out the "main meal" which was unprofessional as it was not particularly busy. Not an impressive first experience.

The lunch menu main meal of "steak" was nothing like what we expected. It consisted of literally wafer thin slices of beef which we had both ordered pink but which were both served well done, which was disappointing all round. Not a glimmer of pink meat was seen. Considering the approximate 2mm thickness of the measly meat slices I agree it would be rather difficult to cook this meat pink. Simply showing it the grill from another room would result in an overdone "steak" but this is meant to be a steak house so they could at least get the "steak" right, right? These few slivers of unappealing beef "steak" were served on a few fries, with a quarter of a tomato.

Needless to say were both still starving having finished the meal, so we left and had dessert elsewhere to try and fill up a bit and even considered having another meal elsewhere on top.

All in all, we could have had two real steaks, properly cooked as ordered, in an independent cosy pub or restaurant for around the price paid for this food, and that is why I cannot recommend this restaurant. Disappointing.

User

4 of us went on a weekday afternoon. Waited nearly and hour for our starters and the place wasn’t busy at all. The mains took a further 3/4 hr to arrive and the t-bone i had was literally full of fat. Was gutted as we’ve been to the ones in Cardiff and they were amazing. Dont know if we were just unlucky but i wont be rushing back to the Swansea one.

User

Would never go back food was not nice at all. Order brought out wrong asked for medium to well got medium rare. Ask for medium rare well they may as well have pulled the steak out of the fridge and put it on the plate. Only good think was the service was ok. Had to ask for steak knifes. Also not much room to sit down had to ask the lady behind me if she could move her chair in as there was not enough room to sit down felt totally squished sitting at table

User

Would leave a zero if I could - Awful customer service!!

Ordered off the Sunday set menu and was prepared to pay a £6 supplement for a fillet steak! Asked for it to be cooked medium to well done and when it arrived it came well well done and chewy so naturally sent it back and was told I’d have to wait 30mins for a new meal! Poor poor service and the manager was about as much help as sun cream in a snow storm! Won’t be recommending to friends & family!

User

Poor service, food had to be sent back 3 times, was in there for almost two hours just for lunch. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, resturant manager just made excuses. They may as well turn it back into a Toby Carvery if this is the level of service they are going to provide.

User

I’ve only given you 1 star because that is the lowest rating. After waiting an hour my food was served cold. The waitress kindly took my plate back to the kitchen. When my meal returned it was still cold. The potatoes and vegetables were freezing! The waitress was lovely and took my meal away and removed it from the bill. I was offered another meal but after waiting over an hour i didn’t want to wait any longer. The meal was an complete disappointment. My husbands also returned his meal as the chips were cold. In addition his steak was not cooked how he requested. The waitress was very helpful and insisted we spoke to the manager. Unfortunately he didn’t seem interested in our feedback. I’d recommend the manager has some customer service training as he had no idea how to deal with our complaint. Extremely disappointed it’s shame since your manager didn’t care about our complaint that I have felt I’ve had no option but to make my complaint public on social media. Thanks for the email offering a free glass of but I can assure you I won’t be returning any time soon.

More training needs to be given to staff.
