Always have to wait for food, tables feel dirty and service is very slow. I don't understand how a chicken and chips meal can take almost 50mins to arrive. Its not even flat out!!!
Stood by the bar waiting to be served, staff kept on passing serving others who arrived after me. When I did get served they said it was a 75 minute wait for food. So we left and went to the pub up the road and had a very tasty meal at a reasonable price.
Very busy pub/restaurant in the centre of Aberaeron by the harbour. Good options on the menu at reasonable prices.
Let down by male toilets which were not nice.
Great location and could be a fantastic venue but poor choice of food and drinks (despite a huge menu) because many menu items and drinks are not available. Visited a few weeks ago and again today, only stopped for drinks today, we wanted a magners with ice - not available, asked if there were any other cider options and the answer was "I don't think so". No toilet paper in the toilets either. Whoever is managing this place needs to pull their finger out
Had a meal here this evening. Never again!!! I had a burger and chips. Ordered of specials board that only had one special, honey coated pork burger. Ordered it with sweet potato fried. 10 mins later they came back and said they had no pork burgers left. Changed it to 6oz beef burger. When it came it was not on a crusty roll as stated and no tomato. Apparently they have no tomato left!! This was 6pm!! Also they brought chips instead of potato fries. They did change this for me and they were very nice but the burger was very dry. My husband had fish and chips which he was enjoying until he hit the bone running through the "fillet". Obviously not a fillet!! On the plus side the bar staff were great x Freindly and helpful.
Food was excellent would definitely visit again if in the area
Have been to The Monachty many times over the years to eat and was therefore very disappointed to find that today the service and experience had deteriorated significantly.
Had reserved a table for six. Ordered 5 ham, egg and chips - and this basic meal was unavailable! As were several of the alternatives!
Ordered drinks. Two of the party weren't drinking and we ordered a jug of water for the table. Were told this would be brought to the table. Half and hour later we went back to ask if it had been forgotten. Jug with two glasses arrived! One of the glasses was dirty and covered in finger marks - as were several of our other glasses when we examined them - did get it replaced but it should never have seen service.
Meal took an hour to be served. Coleslaw on one of the plates was dried up and stale looking. Asked if a fresh one could be provided - it never turned up and no apology was made.
Waiter kept going out onto the balcony for significant periods of time to clear up there but leaving us in a cold draught with the fire door open. After each member of our party had taken it in turns to close the door for our comfort we did in the end ask (politely) if he could close the door when he went back and forth.
No one came to check if the meal was satisfactory - usually, even in the most basic eatery, a check is made.
While all this went (or didn't) go on the manager sat with a party at another table and made no effort to see that a good standard of service was being provided.
Come on Monachty let us have a good experience again. I would be loath to return in the near future and will wait for others to confirm that their experience has been better.
On the plus side the food tasted fine - except for the coleslaw!
I really love Monachty. The people are very nice and the dessert that i ate was delicious. I wish i could stay there every day of the Werk.
