This weekend (Sunday 3rd) it's the first of our November guided walks, heading through the ancient woodland of Wentwood and up Gray Hill for fantastic views over lower Monmouthshire and the Severn Estuary.
Wentwood looks fantastic this time of year with the autumn colours, so it's a great chance to get out and see them.

The Wye valley walk is currently underwater along much of its Riverside sections. With the river still rising, coupled with high tides expected over the next couple of days we advise not to use the route on any of its lower sections. This includes sections between Whitebrook and Monmouth and up to Symonds yat in particular.

We are looking for a project officer to help us deliver our MonLife Heritage Strategy Project which is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. MonLife is a newly formed service group managed by Monmouthshire County Council. Its aim is to enrich people's lives through participation and activity, building strong and vibrant places and communities. We want to take a fresh look at the management of the heritage assets in our care, from historic properties and heritage sites to museum collections, to help us tell the stories of Monmouthshire.

We've put up our next four guided walks covering November & December, and we think they're four of our best. From Wentwood in the south (with great views over the Severn) to Monmouth in the north (with more great views!) we've got most of Monmouthshire covered.
3rd November - Wentwood & Gray Hill Guided Walk
17th November - Llanarth & Clytha Park Guided Walk
... 7th December - Abergavenny to Govilon Guided Walk
22nd December - Buckholt Wood Guided Walk

After an incident last week where crops were destroyed, as a result of 2 gates being left open, please remember when out in the countryside, to make sure to follow the countryside code and leave gates as you find them or follow any notices on them asking for them to be left shut, such as the one below.

We have a great walk this Sunday (20th) in the Wye Valley as we climb the 365 steps to Eagle's Nest and fantastic views down towards Chepstow & the Severn Estuary.
It's a great time of year for it with the Autumn colours out in force. The walk is one of our shorter ones at 3 hours, but please be aware there will be a steep rocky slope and these 365 steps to ascend.
