MusicMotor is dedicated to providing a variety of services for the professional and the amateur musician.

Music Motor was founded by Julian Smith. For many years he has created arrangements and orchestrations for a large number of individuals and organisations. Julian is an operatic conductor, and was for over twenty years the Head of Music at Welsh National Opera. He is also the Music Advisor to the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, and Chairman of the Jury of the Welsh Singer Competition.

An acknowledged expert on Puccini, Julian restored the original version of Madama Butterfly, which has been widely performed and also recorded. He collaborated with the late Sir Charles Mackerras on editions of some of Handel's operas. As well as arranging many songs for singers such as Bryn Terfel, Suzanne Murphy and Dennis O'Neill, he was also the principal arranger for the young Charlotte Church, creating no less than thirty arrangments for her early discs, including the ever-popular "Silent Night".
