About Nantgarw China Works Museum

Famous for its legendary porcelain Nantgarw China Works is a popular museum & active porcelain works. Over 350 workshops each year teach, pottery, glass and botanical painting and other crafts. Tours, group visits, demonstrations, craft shop and tearooms.

Nantgarw China Works Museum Description

Nantgarw China Works is the only surviving 19th century porcelain works in the United Kingdom. In the early years of the 19th century the most beautiful porcelain every created in the UK was made at Nantgarw by William Billingsley.

Nantgarw China Works is now part museum and part Art Centre still producing high quality contemporary porcelain through its resident ceramicists.

A wide variety workshops take place at Nantgarw including Ceramics, Pottery, Glass making & Basket making. There is also an excellent and popular schools programme.

The museum has limited accessibility for wheelchairs. Although the majority of the site is easily accessible, the second floor of the museum (currently a gallery space) can only be accessed via the stairs.
