About Never Forget Your Welsh Heroes
A public campaign to digitize and archive the diaries, letters and postcards written by Welsh soldiers and soldiers in Welsh regiments.
You can temporarily loan any such records from your own family to the project, to be added to our digital archive
Never Forget Your Welsh Heroes Description
When it came to the First World War, Wales was punching well above its weight. With Lloyd George eager to show Wales at its patriotic best, the Principality contributed the largest number of men to the Services on a basis of percentage of population, than any other country in the Empire.
NEVER FORGET YOUR WELSH HEROES is a campaign to source letters, diaries and other resources that were written by Welsh Tommies, or soldiers in any Welsh regiments, throughout any period of Britain's military history. Relying on loans from the public, our team can digitize these valuable resources, before returning them to their owners. After transcribing these records, we upload them to our website: http://www. neverforgetyourwelshheroes.org. uk / to create a digital open public archive, that will educate the people of today, and keep alive the memory of those who sacrificed so much throughout our history.
If you have any letters, diaries, postcards, photographs or such memorabilia that you'd like to loan or donate to the project, please get in touch. We are based at the Royal Welsh Regimental Museum in Brecon - http://www. royalwelsh.org. uk
