Brilliant food friendly service
Basic but comfortable, with a friendly helpful owner.
Reasonably priced rooms very close to Talgarth town centre. There are a few parking spaces available. The rooms were decent for the price with a TV and free wifi via _theCloud. Towels were provided but no soap or shampoo, so we had to go shopping (this wasn't very difficult as there is a Co-op nearby). Being close to the town centre, it is a short walk to a good pub or restaurant, if you don't want to use the facilities in the New Inn.
Expensive for what it is and that is a cold hole in Wales. Bar cold, why? Serves evening meal apparently but wouldn't bother if the breakfast is anything to go by. Hard to find a redeeming feature at this price point.
Paid for room and breakfast at 9am. The room was fine except for the SHARED bathroom, however when we awoke we found the the entire pub shut, doors locked, lights out, and curtains closed. We even banged on the door, but no avail. The only door unlocked was the exit! Waited until 9:30 but unfortunately left without breakfast.
When called for refund the manager lied stating the pub was open and we walked out on him.
I would not recommend this pub. Will not be stopping by again.

Stayed here in Feb 2014, and I can't say enough nice things about it. For starters, being in Wales is always a lovely escape from London, but the new owner was so friendly and accommodating of our last minute booking, request for an early breakfast, and somewhere to store my bike overnight. He was even happy for us to rearrange the room a little so that we could fit in our baby's travel cot. The pub itself was exactly what we wanted it to be, friendly patrons and food in the restaurant was great, especially the steak and the puddings! And there were a couple of high chairs for us to make use of, which was great. The room was cozy and clean, the bed comfortable, and although the bathroom was at the end of the corridor, it was exclusively ours and very clean and tidy. Many thanks Damon for making a weekend away with our baby so easy. Would stay here again, for sure.
