We're delighted to announce that the wonderful Stephanie Webber will be part of An Evening of Eric & Ern, as their special musical guest! Steph is no stranger to the New Theatre, having played Mimi The Mermaid, Snow White and Deadly Nightshade in the last three pantos, and we can't wait to have her back on May 15th!
If revisiting the greatness of Morecambe and Wise wasn't enough, seeing one of Wales' finest talent is reason enough to get your tickets. Book now!

Went to see the Ben and Holly show yesterday afternoon, what a fantastic performance. Everything you'd need to keep a 2 year old entertained, singing, audience participation, dancing, magic jelly, and chocolate ice cream! Was a little warm but not uncomfortably so. Looking to book for the gruffalo in August. Great experience!

User

Well what a fabulous performance for opening night, myself and my husband an 2kids plus daughters friend come for her 13th birthday an we laughed from start to finish! We will definitely be back next year. All actors were absolutely fabulous

We went to see Blood Brothers yesterday, and it was outstanding. Beautiful theatre, with very comfortable seating. The only thing I would have liked, is more female toilets. The queues for the ladies was incredibly long. The staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be looking out for shows in this theatre in future. Fab!

My very first Cardiff Panto and my very first trip to Cardiff! I only ever used to see my local Pantomime at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth. But since 2016, I've going to the London Pantos and decided, this year, to choose a third venue. The reason I chose you, New Theatre, is because I feel that Beauty & the Beast isn't done very often as a Pantomime and I LOVED it! I loved the opening prologue, I thought it was very theatrical and dramatic. Deadly Nightshade was the best villain I have ever seen. She was scary, she was crafty, she was boo-able and had two superb costumes! I was blown away by the Act 1 finale as the Kriken or Kraken (or whatever the sewer monster was called) soared out over our heads and was only six foot above us and I couldn't help singing along to the "Watch Your Back" song. Lisa Riley's performance was thoroughly enjoyable and the Dame was just beyond hilairious. I will always remember the Gaviscon joke!

User

Loved the Panto have 3 boys aged 16, 9 and 8 and all were very entertained. Brilliant evening and already booked for next year definitely the best way to spend an evening with the family. Thank you all x

I worked at this theatre in 1970’s .. loved it then and still love it now. Have seen every pantomime since 1970’s and many other shows. Taken my children, my nieces and nephews and now my grandchildren. A beautiful theatre of outstanding quality and wonderful kind and helpful staff. I hope to be around to see many many more shows for many years to come. Highly recommend.

User

I loved the show last night it was fab But ..my friend who came with us was quite upset when she was enjoying the show so much she stood up to dance and was asked to sit down by a member of staff she was not happy at all ...

User

From my son what a great review .....

Got to say I’ve been a member of the New Theatre for nearly a year now & I love the place, being part of something like that makes me so happy, staff are so friendly & after booking shows today from priority booking made me think how nice they are, brilliant productions & the theatre itself has such a good feel when visiting & watching a show! well worth paying yearly for the benefits!

User

Absolutely fantastic show from start to finish. Haven’t laughed so much in years, if you fancy a great night then try and get some tickets if you’re lucky. You won’t be disappointed!

User

Absolutely amazing service from the New Theatre today!! I had tickets for a show as a present, but couldn’t make the date they were booked for. The lady in the box office was very helpful and changed the tickets for another performance with no problems at all. Excellent customer experience from my favourite theatre!!

User

11 of us came to watch Snow White. Fantastic performance by all. Gareth you were amazing and made it for me . Well done guys I definitely recommend this show to everyone.

User

The theatre is lovely, visited many a time over the years but paid a visit yesterday to take my grandson to see the Gruffalo, must say what a huge disappointment!! I think the parents watched the show & left their children to entertain themselves...thank God the actors had microphones otherwise wouldn't have heard a thing....never worth the money. Costumes very poor!

User

I love the plays and shows, box office staff are great but why is it so cold in the stall and the bar it was freezing last night sat in my coat, gloves and scarf l have noticed this has been going on for quite a while now I have attend other theatres and have not experienced the cold climate that the New Theatre has.

l attended a performance of The Frightened Lady last night with my friend who is disabled and she found it very uncomfortable please management turn the heating on you have great shows and a lovely theatre but I shouldn’t have to come kitted out for the Antartica.

User

I and a group of friends had a wonderful evening at the pantomime tonight. I Iove this theatre and have since I was a child. But do the ushers need to be so aggressive with the torches? I understand mobile phone use is an issue but to have a torch flashed into the audience is actually way more disruptive and distracting. My friends and I are ushers ourselves so we do understand the annoyance of phones but we also know there are other ways to deal with this than flashing torches into people's faces. The small boy sitting beside me was quite disturbed by it.

User

Great show last night, my wife's favourite novel (Shirley Valentine). However it was very hot in the circle last night!! I made sure I got an ice cream at the interval to cool down a bit.

User

Went to see Ben and holly with my little girl yesterday great show ... what I think needs to change though is the disruption of people turning up late for shows who then can't find their seats and then others are inconvenienced and can't enjoy the show I personally think and my opinion is that if you are not in at a certain time then you don't come in till the interval

User

Thriller was Brilliant

But ...

The Theatre was absolutely freezing, no heating at all.

Only one disabled toilet that everybody used.

2 small tables that is classed as a bar, but also selling merchandise, and a standing area.

One person screamed on top of her voice from start to finish and not one usher told her to tone it down a bit, even though they were walking around, checking for phones.

The place is old and tired, desperately needs updating !

User

Only serves cocktails in the evening ...very strange as the bar was well stocked .....got there an hour before time to enjoy the advertised 2 for £6.90 ....wish we'd read the small print ....

Also at the end of the performance only one exit out of the auditorium .....thank goodness we weren't in a rush to leave !!

The only thing that deserved 5 stars was Jodie Prenger as Shirley Valentine ...amazing from start to finish 🤗

User

Think it would be really helpful if you put information on your page about local events happening in the area that affect getting to venue. 40 minute trip took us over 2 hours meaning we missed the show and your answer was there were sign posts up locally a week before hand - helpful when your not a local. Sadly I won't be booking with you again and will book local theatre. Really is a shame as we loved the venue last time we visited and enjoyed a day in Cardiff
