We always love to share art we love, so when we came across this installation by Studio Mieke Meijer, we just had to find out more! Terazzo is a composite material of marble chippings set into cement that was created as a way to reuse the scrapped rock. Originating in Italy about 500 years ago, we've seen a big comeback over recent years featuring on everything from floor tiles to lamps, tables to wallcoverings. We had a fantastic time at Heimtextil last week. We particularly enjoyed visiting the 'Toward Utopia' exhibition which explores the upcoming trends for 2019/2020. Toward Uptoia is described as 'The 21st century presents us with diverse challenges, with the mega topic, sustainability, continuing to occupy our minds. In response, we look for ways toward a new utopia - a society that respects every single person and their environment, and builds on individual responsibility, positive actions and optimism'.
