About Nofit State
NoFit State is the UK’s leading large-scale contemporary circus company.
Nofit State Description
NoFit State was founded in 1986 by five friends. During a politically charged time, in a recession, and as a creative reaction to the world around them, the circus was born.
Thirty years later NoFit State still believes that the total outweighs the sum of the parts. The company lives together, works together, eats together, laughs and cries together – travelling in trucks, trailers and caravans and living and breathing as one community. This is what creates the spirit that is NoFit State and gives the work its heart and soul.
Contemporary circus combines live music, dance, stage design, text, and film with traditional circus skills. It is rooted in the travelling community who turn up, pitch a tent, drum up an audience, and then leave with only flattened grass and a memory to show they were ever there. The circus are the strangers who live amongst us – and if we run away to join them we are throwing off our inhibitions, our conventions, the rules of settled society. We are taking to the road knowing that there is no destination - only a journey.
Today, NoFit State is the UK’s leading large-scale contemporary circus company, producing professional touring productions and a wide variety of community, training, and education projects for people of all ages.
Over the last six years NoFit State's touring productions have visited 15 different countries, played to audiences of over 250, 000, have been critically acclaimed and won numerous prestigious international arts awards.

Tumble Circus, one of our showcased artists at The Circus Village 2018 - Avignon Le Off have their new Winter Circus Show previewing today!

What an amazing evening last night at Lexicon! Myself, husband and 3 year old daughter loved every minute. The performers were second to none- so talented. We don’t know where the evening went, every second was captivating. The show was so well put together. Thank you for a great experience!

Went to see the NoFit State circus last night. It was absolutely amazing, they are so talented! If you are thinking about booking, do it. You will not be disappointed. I’m going to book and see it again before they move on.
Went to see Lexicon in Newcastle Under Lyme tonight; what an amazing show!!! Mesmerising, farcical, absorbing and hilarious- just brilliant! Such a talented company; loved seeing the balance between centre stage performers and those enabling and enhancing their work. Went with a party of 8, 4 kids aged 3-7 yrs and we all thoroughly enjoyed it ���
We had a dear friend come a long way to visit unexpectedly so we got an extra ticket online; but it transpired we’d booked it for the wrong date! We were totally gutted as one of us would surely miss out - and the whole point was to cheer us up as we are all having the most painful emotional family traumas. BUT not only did the wonderfully charming door staff agree to let us all in anyway we were escorted to fabulous seats right by the band- who were just brilliant. The whole show was utterly joyous and wonderful and I can’t recommend it enough. Certainly it’s the highlight of the festival. THANK YOU! Xx
Spectacular, thrilling, artistic, creative. I have just seen Lexicon and was spellbound for the whole time. Everything is so well thought out and timed to perfection. Even the rigging was fantastic. Go and see it - you won’t be disappointed. Truly magical!
Oh it was such good fun! Funny, gobsmacking, exciting, beautiful. The live music was gorgeous, the design and effects superb. Just stunning. We absolutely loved every minute. My hands are sore from clapping! Thank you all for a wonderful evening.
NOT TO BE MISSED SPECTACULAR-Absolutely spectacular performance full of awe inspiring performances, wit and laughter and beautiful light and stage effects. The live music was absolutely stunning and hit me right to my core. This is not to be missed it's one of the most enjoyable evenings in a long time ! Need to be promoted and spoken about more !

Fun ,playful ,awesome, . Talented performers a twist on classic acrobatics that made me gasp. Fantastic costumes & music in a big top with loads of atmosphere. I loved it in Newcastle under Lyme.

I am still smiling as I recall the many details these talented artists enchanted us with. Please, please release a CD with the music that accompanied the show.

Blown away by Lexicon - amazing performance by fearless, beautiful and super-talented troupe. Fabulous physicality, music and breathtaking acts combined to create a brilliant circus/theatrical performance. It should be playing to a packed big top. Go and see it!
As a traditional circus fan I always used to to regard newer types of show as high on theatrics, but sometimes short on skills. I was dazzled by Lexicon which seemed to be a giant tick list of the best in nearly every kind of act. To pick out individual performers in such a strong company seems a bit mean, but for me the stars were Sam on the unicycle and the woman on the slack wire. The act that surprised me most was the guy on the solo trapeze in a gutsy and almost traditionally artless presentation that reminded me of great performers of yesteryear, (safety wire noted though). The theatre , music and costumes were all great too.
Amazing show! I had such a great time that I went twice in a week � great performance and incredible live music. Keep up the good work!
Absolutely blown away !! Wonderful evening with the family and such a treat to have such talented performers and a super show in Newcastle. Can't recommend it enough definitely worth a visit
