North Wales Upholstery Description

I am a professionally qualified traditional upholstress and a student of a Director of the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers. I love to take old, tired pieces of furniture and bring them back to life with a complete re-build including new stuffings or simply a new cover.

Traditional upholstery is a craft that dates back centuries and involves time-honoured traditional methods and materials in order to create comfortable, long lasting seating. A well upholstered chair will last for many decades. Quality seating that was made in Victorian or Edwardian times may only now need re-upholstering. Good new traditional upholstery will last just as long as the first.

There are many more layers to a traditionally upholstered chair than you would imagine including the use of webbing, springs, hessian, coir, hand-stitching, hair, cotton flock and calico, never foam. It is a process requiring skill, patience and great attention to detail. However, the satisfaction of transforming a worn out seat into a thing of beauty is worth every minute.

I can source a specific style of chair and recover or rebuild it to your specifications. I can also help you with fabric choices and have access to wide range of samples.

My workshop is based in the pretty village of Llanelidan, close to Ruthin.

Please contact me to discuss your specific requirements and for a free, no obligation consultation.
