~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Homeopathy is over 200 years old and is one of the most widely used forms of medicine in the world today. It is a complete system of medicine that treats each individual on all levels - mind, body and emotions. There is no risk of toxic side effects or addiction therefore it's safe for everyone including babies, children, during pregnancy /breast feeding and in the elderly. The medicines taste pleasant too, making them easy for children and even newborns to take!
So, in case we haven't yet met and you're wondering who I am, here's a little bit about me:
I was first introduced to homeopathy in 1983 by a friend, whilst I was training to be a nurse in Scotland. I then began to prescribe homeopathy to my family and friends for minor ailments and became so fascinated with the approach and the results I experienced that I eventually embarked on a professional training course. At that time, I completed my nursing training and chose to work in a hospital for people with special needs.
This background in nursing has been a valuable experience to me in understanding the conventional approach to health. However, I realised that a more holistic, individualised approach is invaluable if we are to strengthen body and mind to allow true healing to take place.
Since that time, my interest in holistic health and passion for homeopathy has filtered into all areas of my life.
I studied with The College of Practical Homeopathy for 4 years, graduating in 2002. I have been working as a homeopath in the North Wales area since then. I am registered with the ‘Alliance of Registered Homeopaths’; a professional body that binds its members by a professional code of ethics and practice. I regularly update my learning with further training in homeopathy and holistic health approaches.
In 2003 I trained with Cruse Bereavement Care on their Bereavement Counselling Course, worked as a volunteer with Cruse and continue to find the skills learned there useful in my work as a homeopath.
Hippocrates, who is often referred to as the “father of medicine said over 2000 years ago “All disease begins in the gut”. Today, more and more evidence and research is supporting his assertion. Mental and emotional well being are intrinsically linked to the gut, therefore it’s unlikely that you will feel well if your digestive system is unhappy. Modern food, medication and stress all have a detrimental effect on our gut health. Gut & Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) is a healing protocol for the digestive system, formulated by Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride from whom I received my training as a Certified GAPS Practitioner in 2014.
My other interests include Nonviolent Communication (Marshall Rosenberg) which I have been learning and practising within a small group since 2006 following participation in a foundation course. I find this approach helpful in both my work as a homeopath and in my personal life.
I hope you enjoy my homeopathy page on facebook - feel free to give me a call if you have any questions or want to explore how homeopathy could help you or your family!
warmly,
Heather
