Oranjebergsport Description
OranjeBergsport was inspired and is run by me, Simon Verspeak. The name is homage to my Dutch ancestry and simply means Orange Mountaineering!
Adventures are what I am about and skills for adventures are what I can do for you!
I hope to give you the skills to become self sufficient; to enjoy the adventure whatever the challenges!
What I can do: instruction in all aspects of summer mountaineering; navigation, climbing and scrambling and leadership in winter hill walking.

Over the last couple of days we've been hanging out in Sheffield and managed a couple of afternoons climbing on the grit. Yesterday we were enjoying the sun at Stanage North, this evening we got rained off Burbage North. I was on the crux but bailed off rather than take a huge lob! All good fun and good to open the autumn account with something to come back for... sunny again tomorrow so hopefully another good day out #autumndays #wearerab

Fun blog after a fun afternoon
I was out of my natural pace today, running up the mountain instead of walking! After a totally grim morning of weather and some irritatingly awkward life admin, Becs persuaded me the weather was better and we had a short window to get out! Had a nice bunch today on an RCI training working for Mckinlay Mountaineering Trad and sports climbing - Grit and limestone in the Peak
Great to be out today for last big training walk with the Acorns Children's Hospice team off to China in a few weeks. Malverns end to end; lots of up and down! Thanks to Becs for being my 'assistant' revising our lowland leader skills!
Working on a military MLT this week; atmospheric conditions on the hills with autumn on the way!
On the weekend on the 13-14 October, we will be delivering some scrambling workshops for Mountain Training Association members...
