Paper Horizon Description
Formed in 2015, Paper Horizon started writing music after various other individual projects. Lawrence Burton released a raw debut EP, Acoustic Journal, back in 2012 but had taken a break away from music to concentrate on family. Long-time friends Lawrence Burton (guitar, vocals) and Andrew Gordon (drums) had tried a few times to work together on some original material. Things didn't take off until Gaëlle Fvr (violin) showed interest in making the band a trio.
“We just started getting together and songs just kind of fell out of us, ” recalls newcomer, Andrew. “We came with a sense of surrender. We weren't trying to create a specific sound, we just wanted to play together and see what the three of us naturally sounded like. ”
They liked the results.
Each practice would yield a new song or idea to be explored in between.

Sadly, she's not. But maybe we’ll share the story of the name:
A horizon is defined as the “limit of of a person’s knowledge or experience”. To the band, paper represents not only something vulnerable and disposable, but a blank canvas that can be a space for which anything can be drawn or created upon.
“The songs always had this kind of narrative, ” explains Gaëlle. “They all had this sense of journeying and being inspired by creation. The name of the band seemed to reflect that expansive quality of a new adventure just starting out. ” Gaëlle, born in a small French town near the Swiss Alps, now lives in Wales after spending years touring with ELO tribute bands and other groups. She also released her debut solo EP Celtic Dreams in 2015. If anyone knows about travelling, it's her. Exploring her passion for making music and playing live, she's found her unique voice and adds a dramatic dynamic to the bands songwriting and live performances.
The band are currently working in the studio recording and playing shows across South Wales.
