John Turner caught this superb 7lb rainbow on a black and green Fritz in our Troutmasters Competition.

We held our Troutmasters Competition Fish Off on Saturday the 13th of April and it was a great day, fishing was steady all day with some nice fish coming out and the conditions weren't bad there was a great ripple on the lake due to an easterly wind, but going into the afternoon it went warm with bright sunshine but this didn't stop most anglers catching their bag limit of 4 fish. The winner of the Troutmasters Competition was John Turner he caught 4 fish with a total bag wei...ght of 20lb 13oz, second place went to David Rees who caught 4 fish with a total bag weight of 17lb 8oz and third place went to Ryan Perham who caught 4 fish with a total bag weight of 14lb 4oz. At Papermill this week fishing has been great with a lot fish being caught and alot of anglers have bagged up, also quite a few have been snapped off by big fish or have lost them to the net. Michael Gwynne caught a cracking 11lb 1oz rainbow on a damsel, David Rees caught a lovely 5lb 12oz rainbow on a green blob and John Turner caught a cracking 7lb rainbow and also a 5lb 11oz rainbow on a black and green Fritz. The conditions have been good lately with cloudy days and there... has been a nice ripple on the lake which has been great for buzzer fishing, the water temperature in the lake is 11 degrees and the oxygen level in the lake is 110% which is perfect for trout. Best fly's have been black buzzers, cats whiskers, green blobs, damsels, emergers, snake fly's and black and green Fritz. At Papermill over the last week the weather has been mixed with some days being warm and sunny and other days being windy with heavy rain but even though we have had different conditions most days a lot of anglers have been catching their bag limits and there have been some big fish seen patrolling around the lake, David Rees who fishes catch and release caught a cracking rainbow weighing approximately 11lb in weight he caught it on a buzzer and was safely returned back into ...the lake. Spring is definitely in the air with various hatches around the lake such as damsels, sedges and buzzers so on the warmer days get the dry flys out and give them a go, with a bit of perseverance you will be rewarded with some fish and there is no better way to catch a fish than off the surface. Best flys of the week have been damsels, bloodworm, cats whiskers, orange fritz, various buzzers, apps worm, black and green fritz and emergers. At Papermill this week fishing has been great with a lot of anglers bagging up and quite a few have been snapped off by big fish browns have also been seen cruising around the lake, on the occasional warmer days dry flys have been working such as black gnat, grey dusters, small sedges and march brown also black buzzers have been working well fished under an indicator about 3ft down other flys that have been catching fish have been cats whiskers, green frits, damsels, apps wor...m, snake flys and bloodworm also floating line with a sink tip or intermediate line has been working the best. David Rees who fishes catch and release caught a superb rainbow weighing approximately 9lb in weight the rainbow was safely returned back into the lake, there will be doubles stocked over the weekend and next week so why not come pay us a visit and see if you can catch one of our cracking doubles.

Dennis Morris caught this 5lb 1oz rainbow on a damsel.

Over the last week at the fishery there have been some good catches with plenty of fish coming to the net, quite a few people have been snapped off too by big fish. Mark Westwood caught a cracking 11lb 2oz rainbow on a black and green fritz, Laura Burns caught a 5lb 3oz rainbow on a red buzzer and Dennis Morris caught a superb 5lb 1oz rainbow on a damsel, David Rees who fishes catch and release caught a cracking rainbow which weighed approximately 11lb in weight on a blob whi...ch was safely retuned. Best flies of the week have been various coloured buzzers, cats whiskers, blobs and snake flies. The weather has been good over the last couple of days at Papermill and its going to be nice over the weekend too so get the rod out and come enjoy a days fishing with us.

Myself, Tristan Price and Warren Evans fished Papermill today.Tristan was in before I had a reel on, Warren was having pulls on his first few casts and when I finely got going I was in to a 10lb 4oz bar of silver.. get in there fantastic breakfast at midday just another brilliant day out at Papermill.

Just been to paper mill trout fishery had a fantastic day as always caught some turbo charged fish (don't know what they feed them on ) owners are brilliant . It must be a go to place for any fly Fisher thanks to everybody there for a great day

I was recently invited to participate in the charity match for Help for Heroes today with a gang of lads who I've never had the privilege to meet or fished a fishery I have never been to... Until today.... I must say Papermill Fishery in my opinion is a superb venue for a day's relaxation well stocked with quality fish and obviously run by a caring, loving and close knit family who are always there to address any problems one may encounter and believe me the breakfast... Wow... I couldn't finish mine but it was a usual case of my eyes bigger than my belly, it was a magnificent feast and value for money that's for sure. In regards to the lads who I fished with well what can I say what a great bunch of boys, I was made to feel most welcome by them all and some great laughs were shared. I feel that along with the kindness shown by the owners and family together with the lads my day was an absolute blast.

Had a great day at the papermill fishery today. Managed to catch 5 fish on a catch and release ticket. Had a brown trout, 3 rainbow trout and a blue trout. Really nice fishery and lots of hard fighting fish.

Had a great day at Fishery Papermill today, first of the winter league competitions I managed two fish and there was some cracking rainbows and blues caught by some of the other anglers, well done to all who entered and a big thank you to all the staff for making it a great day

Had a great day Tuesday 4 fish all 3lb plus excellent fight . Breakfast was superb . Nice to see youngsters of 9 and 10 fishing . Helped them out with a few flies and casting tuition after I bagged up . Excellent day . I will be back NICK 😁

Great day yesterday fishing was hard missed two takes but thats fishing I am a beginner still learning, fishery is excellent contacted my fly tyer for some natural flies cant wait to go again plus had a fantastic breakfast and friendly chat from the staff and advice from the owner on flies. Ordered a new clear fly line so it doesnt spook the trout learnt that lesson yesterday :)

Fished on Saturday with my dad. 10 fish between us in just 4 hours. Hard fighting, healthy rainbows and blues to 5lb. Fantastic day in a lovely setting. Finished off with a good breakfast. What more do you want.
