Despite optimism we have decided to cancel the craft fayre and car boot sale today due to weatherDespite optimism we have decided to cancel the craft fayre and car boot sale today due to weather

Our first ever Carboot and crafts. £10 per boot donation to park in the past. Refreshments available.

User

Update on ASBO youths today at Park in the Past. We now have a list of names. Some are locals sadly. The word of the day CONSEQUENCE. Watch this space.

User

Today I politely asked a group of around 16, 12 To 15 year olds not to swim in the lake. They became threatening and abusive so were asked then told to leave the park. This was there parting shot. I have forwarded security pics of those kids to the police. Don’t think they are immediately local. As our local kids usually are pretty good If you know your kids were out in a big group “swimming” today? I hope u feel It nessesary to take them to task

User

Next Saturday is our regular craft Fayre. I have been asked several times to hold a car boot sale. next Saturday Anyone interested ?

What a beautiful place and full of amazing very friendly people.

Fantastic for dog walking, horse riding and generally being outside.... And can't wait for the roman fort to be built, that's going to be fantastic!!!!

User

We had a fantastic time for the wicker man event.

Beautiful place, I can't wait to watch you grow, good luck x

User

We came to the Wicker Man event - Wow! What a wonderful time we had! Paul and his team were utterly brilliant! They had thought of everything! We cannot wait to get involved in volunteering and look forward to spending many more times at this gorgeous site! So lovely to see a dream become a reality! Be very proud of your achievements guys!

This is an absolutely outstanding project, and I'll support it in any way I can. Having known Paul Hartson for a number of years through Roman Tours, Deva Victrix Legion XX and many a happy hour re-enacting, I'm ready to wet my blade - spade blade this time, and get involved.

There are no limits to the excellence of Park in the Past, and I say this as the project is still in its infancy. When it comes to full fruition as a tourist attraction in its own right, the thought of that can only be too exciting.

Paul, Charlene and the team in Chester have worked tirelessly to make this work - and I mean for the general public and not just those in the Roman circuit. It will be a major source of income for the area as a whole, to double as a major attraction to those who are interested in life at a Roman fort 2000 years ago.

I congratulate everyone involved in this project, and if anyone else can help Paul and his team in the continuous development of Park in the Past, especially for raising funds with regard to its maintenance, it will be well worth it, I promise you.

The wicker man event was AMAZING! And the place is an absolute little gem! I look forward to attending more events here in the future.

User

My whole family loved our visit here the summer king bonfire was amasing.

User

It's a great place to come and relax by the lake have a great walk with your dog and get some fresh air.

User

I wanted to pass on how much I enjoyed the led-walk around Park in the Past this afternoon. I was surprised that my own local landscape, where I have lived for over three decades, held so much ancient history, which the Director, Paul Harston, brought alive in his detailed commentaries at different parts of the walk. As a historian myself, I was fascinated with how Paul made the history come alive. It was a real education, which I shall be happy to impart and share with my family and friends. I got a real sense of how much potential the site has as an education and research base, as well as a natural topography for all to enjoy. Thank you. I shall return and watch the site's development with great interest.

User

I attended the equestrian weekend and what a gem of a place for off-road riding. Good firm tracks with great views and plenty of wildlife.

The volunteers were all so helpful. There is ample hard standing for parking, a wash off area, toilets, refreshments (including super coffee).

The track around the lake takes about 45-60 mins to complete at a leisurely pace. Crossing the ford across the River Alyn was great fun and good training for horses. There is an alternate route to avoid the crossing if you don't fancy it.

There are plenty of opportunities for a canter and you can follow any of the routes (you are given a map) in any direction and can spend all day wandering around.

It is so relaxing as you know you won't meet any dirt bikes or 4x4s and no gates to open either.

Following feedback, there may be some logs to pop over in future. I hope this will be a regular event as it is rare to find anywhere so safe to ride.

User

Fantastic event! Wickerman festival yesterday, as a Roman I had so much fun and a wonderful atmosphere to the whole festival. Well done.

User

An awesome project that is going to be very enjoyable when its completed!

Lots of hard working going into it, and so much to see and do. We can't wait until it's finished!

Keep up the good work all! :)

User

Amazing place with extra friendly people! We went kayaking on the lake and had a brilliant time. Highly recommend!

User

Absolutely beautiful place friendly staff and lovely people. We’re so lucky to have this on our doorstep we will definitely be kayaking again soon. Highly recommend 🌿

User

A great project that will benefit the community and Flintshire

User

A fantastic concept that will bring a disused old quarry to life both for the locals, History enthusiasts, water sports enthusiasts and nature enthusiasts, something for everybody!

User

I came along today for the first time with my daughter & niece, I walked the course as my little one is only just off leadrein. We all enjoyed, well marked route with good tracks for a canter (if you want), girls loved the river crossing, I paddled across barefoot!! Took us about 1hr 10min to get around, but there's nothing stopping you going again or exploring different tracks. Well run, with excellent parking and basic facilities, we will return (with wellies!!!) Reason for 4* overgrown nettles made a small section difficult to find.
