Peas In A Pod Pet Ultrasound Description

Do you think your dog is expecting a happy event?

Well, "Peas in a Pod" pet ultrasound scanning services are just for you!
We can offer you the reassurance that your pet is having puppies and if so, an idea of how many babies are on the way!
We can also offer a scanning service for expectant queens.
We are based in North Wales and cover the surrounding area, including parts of Cheshire, Shropshire and the Wirral. We are available 7 days per week at times to suit you.

Why should you have your bitch scanned?

-Having your bitch scanned will allow you to plan ahead, be it your show season or booking your time off work
-To give you peace of mind that your girl is expecting and not having a phantom pregnancy
-To give ample time to prepare your whelping area
-To allow you the opportunity to inform potential buyers
-To enable you to consider changes in your bitches dietary requirements

Why should you scan at home?

Scanning at home can offer several benefits.
Firstly, it minimises the stress to your bitch caused by visiting a vet. Any added stress to your bitch at this important time could cause her to lose or absorb her puppies.
Secondly, it minimises the chance of infection. Taking your bitch to a vet for a scan means that you take a risk, possibly allowing her to come into contact with viral infections that other animals at the vets may be carrying. There have been prolific outbreaks of Kennel Cough and Parvovirus recently which is, of course, something you would want your girl to avoid.

The Scan

Scanning is a pain free, non-invasive procedure. We use veterinary grade equipment to perform the scan. Our handheld scanner emits silent, harmless ultrasound waves which are reflected back to give you a picture of your bitches womb.
The scan can be performed with your bitch lying down or standing up, whichever is more comfortable for her.
Occasionally, I may need to clip a small section of hair away from the bitches tummy to allow a better contact.
Scanning can take place from 28 days after the last mating date. At this time it is easier to count the number of puppies present. After his time, an accurate count becomes increasingly difficult.
At any time during the scan, I am able to freeze the screen to allow you to take any photographs you would like.
I will spend as much time as necessary scanning your bitch. I aim to keep the experience a pleasant one for you both. In fact, most bitches are very relaxed during the scan.

About us

I have always been around animals. I began handling dogs from a very early age and have been around the show ring for most of my life.
I am a Kennel Club Assured Breeder and although we only breed occasionally, I am very experienced in the breeding process from start to finish.
I can offer you advice on whelping your bitch, however, any emergencies should be referred to a vet.
I have been fully trained in scanning by Vet Image Solutions and I use veterinary grade scanning equipment.

Services and Charges

We offer several scanning services.
The first and most popular is a home visit. We charge £25 for a visit covering a 10 mile radius from my home address. After this, it is 35p per mile.
I am able to offer scanning on my premises. The cost for this is £20.
If a second scan is required, we can offer this service at £15 for the home visit (plus any milage costs as above) or £10 at my address.
We can also offer an emergency scanning service. If your bitch has whelped and you are concerned she may still have a puppy inside her, we can come out at anytime to perform a scan. Most bitches whelp during the night, therefore due to the hour, a small extra fee will be applicable.

Please note, we CANNOT guarantee that the count of puppies is 100% accurate. Bitches can absorb at any stage during the pregnancy.

Contact /Booking a scan

To book an appointment please contact me via telephone or email. If you telephone and I do not answer, please leave a voicemail as I may be busy scanning. I will return your call as soon as I possibly can.
Please feel free to contact me if you require any further information. I completely understand what a special time this is for you and how important your girl is. I will always try to give you any advice or support I can.
