I love the mountaineering history here. Everest team signatures and boots etc.

We arrived at this hotel by a lucky hazard completely soaked from a multiple hour long heavy rain shower. We've been greeted by thé staff un the most adorable way: they made a fire for us and let us hang our wet stuff in the "pub zone" of the hotel. In the end, we took a room because the weather wasn't getting any better until the next day and it was certainly worth the price. The many superb bathrooms are wondeful and unique, the rooms are comfortable and the game room is pretty neat too. And the breakfast was great too.

This hotel is set in a beautiful location. Very close to Snowdon and all accessable walking routes. Visited on a cycling trip around Snowdon and stopped here for a drink to refresh ourself. Great location and lovely area. Great service staff are very friendly and welcoming. Fast service is always appreciated and even better to get out the cold and get a hot coffee into our systems.

Historically important location where Edmund Hillary prepared for his first ascent of Everest. Billed as the Home of British Mountaineering, with the clubby wood-paneled rooms and memorabilia to prove it. Devotees of mountaineering will appreciate the historical significance and ambiance. But a somewhat unwelcoming staff makes this a less likely destination for casual visitors.

Lovely, cosy hotel & pub nearby to Snowdon Peak. Also a great "feed station" for cyclists :)

Well, I just cycled on my road bike from Liverpool to the bottom of Snowdon Peak 1st time on last Tuesday & the weather was so great & hot, I had to stop before I started again to climb in the saddle. I found this little but lovely, cosy Pen-Y-Gwryd Hotel there & I didn't regret to stop there for a half pint of beer & for a large pot of excellent coffee but I was really glad to find them! Staff is friendly & excellent, & drinks are not pricey but tasty, great, so I can highly recommend this place if you are on your way to Pen-y-Pass or/& to Snowdon Peak! What else can I write? Oh, this place in the middle of nowhere for sure but what a nowhere! The landscape, views are also stunning there! :)

Very quirky old fashioned hotel. Rooms basic but cozy. Excellent dinner, good friendly staff. Great place for a good feed and sleep after stumbling around Snowdonia!

Lovely staff! Nice rooms, beautiful nature around the hotel, perfect place if you want to climb the Snowdon! Good bang for the bucks! AND they have very local produced Ale. All food are produced from around the area!

A great hotel that is steeped in history and tradition. This is not a top of a range hotel, simply a hotel aimed at those who love and appreciate the outdoor life
