Penally Abbey

Beautifully executed renovation of historic house. Large rooms, elegant bathroom, lovely breakfast - will go back.

Only went in to check it out as I was working next to it. Got shown around by a member of staff who was very nice and friendly and it looks very nice. Lovely rooms downstairs and beautiful garden with a gorgeous view of Caldy Island.

Fabulous boutique hotel - perfect for a weekend break!

Unbelievably poor in virtually every aspect. Six course tasting menu was beyond a joke. A bread roll is not a course! Scotch egg does not mean a small sausage,half a teaspoon of breadcrumb and grated cold egg yolk. Cod portion should be more than one ounce. Staff shouldn't ask for your wine choice before they have offered you the menu. Vastly over priced and massively overrated. Portions tiny and not that interesting. Smoked eel? Couldn't see it or taste it over the onion. Amateurish staff out of their depth. It gets one star for the comedy value and the beautiful setting. Don't be fooled. P.S. I have eaten in at every kind of restaurant from kfc to la gavroche and many other Michelin stared places. Penally Abbey was inept. Don't forget to order a take away on the way home.

For those VERY special occasions

A lovely relaxed small hotel with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Nice but rather expensive food well presented and pleasant sitting room and bar. The gardens would be lovely to sit in in the summer. WiFi could be better but not bad for West Wales! Parking a bit of a squeeze and though a very narrow driveway. Don't attempt to bring anything larger than a range rover or be prepared to park elsewhere. Dog friendly as I spied some 4 legged visitors during my stay.

So good we are packing for our third visit.
