Pencoed Growers

Here is a picture of a typical pot grown tree. Mainly Norway Spruce and up to 5-6' from the floor. Smaller ones available. £25 regardless of size.

Just to say that we have lots of Xmas trees available for reserving. We are open every day during daylight hours; there are clear instructions in the packing shed on the right hand side as you come into the yard. Labels are there and directions to the trees. We grow two sorts - Nordmann Fir which are low needle drop, best sort to get if you need to have your tree early in December and Norway Spruce, the traditional kind. The Norway are reputed to drop more needles but should be fine if cut from the middle of December. All trees benefit from being in a stand which holds plenty of water and all are best in a room which is not too hot. The Nordmann are £6 per foot, the Norway are £5 per foot and the pot grown trees are £25 each.

You are welcome to come and choose your Christmas tree. All sizes up to 7-8 foot. Both Norway Spruce and Nordmann Fir. Pot grown trees also available. Open daylight hours. Bring wellies

People are starting to enquire about choosing a Christmas tree. We are happy from now on for folks to come over to the farm to choose a tree. People often assume that Christmas trees just grow without any attention or work on them. We have just finished trimming all the Norway Spruce so that they hopefully look their best for later in the autumn. Here are two 'before' and 'after' pics.

Still got plenty of trees. Indeed we never run out as all our trees are grown by us on the farm and each one is cut fresh to order. A perfect time now to get a traditional Norway Spruce as cutting closer to Christmas will minimise needle drop. Pot grown trees also still available.

We still have lots of lovely trees if you haven't already chosen one. Open every day during daylight hours including Sundays. And the weather forecast is better for tomorrow!

We have Christmas trees in the field for reserving. We start cutting these in December. However, we also have pot grown trees available earlier, sizes from 3' to 5' plus. See photo.

Just a reminder that Eva of The Flower Hive is hosting a "Dig-Up Party" on Saturday and Sunday 27th and 28th October 10-2pm. Try and come at 10.00am and Eva will show you the plants (herbaceous perennials and dahlias). £2.50/clump, bring your own fork or spade. And while you're at the farm take the opportunity to choose your Christmas tree if you haven't already done so!

You are now welcome to come and choose a Xmas tree, either for fresh cutting near to Xmas or a tree which is growing in a pot. Open during daylight hours, bring wellies if possible. It's nearly that time again .... but not quite. From Saturday 28th October, i.e. the beginning of half term week we shall be open for reserving Christmas trees.

Just an update on the Christmas tree situation this year. It's been great to see so many coming to choose trees; we still have some nice Nordmann about 5-6' and also some lovely pot grown Norway Spruce. We are short of taller trees this year; when we started planting 8-10 years ago we weren't planting enough each year because we had no idea what demand would be further down the line. We upped the planting rate about four years ago but it will take a year or two for us to have a bigger choice available. However, for the first weekend in December and to help plug the gap we shall be buying in some freshly cut larger trees 6-7' from a local grower near Newport so you are welcome to pop over that weekend to have a look.
