Penlan Cattery Description

Penlan Cattery is a well established owner-run family business. We pride ourselves on being reliable, caring, honest and approachable and we offer your beloved cats a great place to holiday here at Penlan. Whether you are going on a seasonal holiday, on a business trip, attending a family engagement, on a long cruise, for a stay in a hospital, or you are in the process of moving house, you can be confident that your cat(s) will be well looked after in a safe and friendly environment where we strive to ensure your cats feel as comfortable and as at home as possible during their stay.
We offer first class accommodation for single cats, duos and families of up to five cats as well as our wealth of knowledge and experience in cat care. Please contact us directly if you would like to arrange an introductory visit, check chalet availability or have any further questions.

We moved to Penlan Farm in March 2000 and Penlan Cattery opened in 2002. Penlan Farm consists of two houses and various outbuildings that surround a large courtyard area, and is set in 20 acres of private land on the outskirts of Croeslan village.
Our Cattery is annually checked /licensed by Ceredigion County Council. The Cattery is situated in and utilises a renovated barn. We have 8 chalets within the barn, all enjoying the ‘indoor feel’ with a high exposed-beam ceiling, cottage windows and a stable door. We have another 8 chalets built onto the back of the barn, all enjoying the ‘outdoor feel’ with a clear plastic corrugated roof, large windows and lots of natural light. Introductory visits are encouraged and you are given to the opportunity to request your preferred chalet depending on which side you feel your cat(s) will be most at home although you can be confident that we have considered every factor and complied to the regulations and requirements on designing and building our boarding chalets.

Our unique chalets are clean and hygienic whilst being very cozy and welcoming. Every chalet features a raised sleep compartment, designed with warmth and security in mind, with a window and a cat-flap accessed by a wide ladder onto the full length shelf. The space underneath the sleep compartment is therefore available as part of the run, resulting in more floor area to play on and somewhere private for their tray to be situated. The chalets are separated by top quality clear full height sneeze barriers and mesh, which ensures each cat can see their neighbour (without any risk of contact) and enjoy very spacious surroundings. All sleep compartments are insulated and lined, and also contain a very effective ceramic heat lamp.

We endeavour to treat our residents as their individual needs require with the intention of ensuring old and young cats alike will not feel unsettled. This includes maintaining any special dietary requirements, be it pure indulgence or a specific need, therefore we feed your cat, as per your instructions, with their own food provided by you, the owner. Bowls, tray and litter, and scratch post are provided by us. For their comfort we recommend that you bring along your cat's usual bedding (whatever the condition! ) but bedding can be provided where necessary.

Vaccination / Neutering
All cats boarding are required to have been vaccinated against feline upper respiratory disease – known as ‘cat flu’ - and feline infectious enteritis, another highly contagious disease. Vaccinations should be boosted annually and should be done, at the latest, 3 weeks before your cat is to be boarded. For hygiene reasons all male cats must be neutered. We reserve the right to refuse admission to any cat without up-to-date vaccination records.

What to pack for your cat
o Your cat's up-to-date record of vaccination
o Your cat's preferred food & treats (enough to cover their holiday)
o Your cat’s normal bedding (or something that smells of home! )
o Your regular vet’s and emergency contact details
o Medication (must be in its original packaging with full instructions or a schedule of administration).

General Health
We have a responsibility to each of our boarding cat’s owners to ensure that their cat’s stay with us is not hindered by a developing illness or risk of infection from another therefore, whilst we are prepared to board most cats including those on medication, we reserve the right to refuse admission to any cat that’s health is suspect following our own examination. We also require you to provide the contact details for your regular vet to cover all eventualities.
