About Pica Pica Home

Like a Pica Pica (Latin for Magpie) I love to collect things that have been discarded by others. Selling painted furniture and vintage finds.

Pica Pica Home Description

Pica Pica is the Latin name for a Magpie.
Like Magpies I simply can't help accumulating for my nest.
My nest is becoming full!
I like to rescue items that may have seen better days and give them a second chance to become a unique piece for the home.

Happy Easter 🐣

A little off piste post but then everything is a little off piste right now isn’t it? Tried this pea smash recipe, lliwiau Cymru, for lunch from Ffika and it was yummy! I’ve shared the recipe on my stories or head to their page for more isolation inspiration. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Half way through the week. Hope everyone is keeping ok? This chair in Black Hills, Autentico Paint, is the most sumptuous dark green and I’m hoping to do a few projects at home in it during lockdown. Admittedly I’ve spent most of my time in the garden and haven’t done any painting yet so I’m looking forward to it. Anyone else got their paintbrushes out?

Monday has come round once again although it doesn’t feel like a Monday really does it? Anyone settled in to a quarantine routine? Or like me, taking each day as it come because you’re not quite sure what it’s going to throw at you? Well, cheers to week 3, cheers to having sunshine and cheers to staying in because I think it’s something we are all going to have to get used.

Ohhh! I forgot that I’d actually done some painting before the world went a bit mad. Dark grey (Autentico Paint Lava) and orange are one of my favourite combinations. 🧡

April 1st. Is this all an elaborate April Fools? How is everyone? I’m struggling to get into any kind of routine other than raiding the fridge every five minutes and popping the alcohol cabinet open earlier and earlier each day. We’ve spent most of lockdown in the garden and it’s been a welcome distraction. ... Hope you are all keeping safe and sane? At least April will be a productive one.

This has been a welcome distraction over the past few days. Gardening my garden. It looks more like a building site if I’m honest but it’s very giving. Any top tips for things to do this time of year? I struggle with weeding, not actually weeding but knowing what’s a weed and what’s not...so I kinda just pull everything 🙈

Not even sure what to say?
‘Lock down’ has actually given me some comfort if I’m honest. I’m pretty laid back normally but the past few days I’ve struggled to come to terms with everything, everyone’s behaviour, processing and over processing everything and anything. We are all pretty much in the same boat, out of work, bills to pay but more importantly our health, our life and our loved ones to look after so just stay safe and sensible.
... Sending love, positivity and the occasional lie in ❤️

Spring equinox plus this filled with flowers. That will make most smile, and smiles are getting a bit scarce around here at the moment.
Try and support your local indies as much as you possibly can at the moment and keep smiling x

Anyone else feel like climbing in a box and hibernating until this is all over? I think forced hibernation is on the cards anyway and you probably could fit in this chest if you really wanted to although it won’t make things go away. I used a mixture of Autentico Paint on this one finished with their black wax. Stay safe ❤️

Couldn’t resist bringing Nigel (of Finding Nemo fame, apparently there are people out there who haven’t watched it, can you believe it?) home.

Weekend feels. If you’re not busy stockpiling loo roll take a minute to appreciate the jungle. This pair had definitely seen better days but using Pintyplus UK spray paint and giving them a glossy coat and new clothes they look completely different 🐆

Whilst in Cornwall one must paint... In between glossing doors we added a little bit of colour to the bedrooms in Trevince using Cream Cornwall paint. Their colours are inspired by Cornwall with its ever-changing skies, wild and rugged coastline, sandy coves and sheltered creeks.
